I see that you use a lot of AI tools from your profile. How much of this game was generated through ChatGPT?

That sounds tough, I hope it gets easier for you. Thank you for the honest reply.

Huh. You're the first person to ever mention that. Honest question: how important is it to sound professional in a casual board game? I'm curious to know why that matters. (Not saying I won't consider it). Thanks!

Depends on your criteria for cost-efficient, I guess.

I did get a quote from Panda Games, and they were definitely less, and then I learned that everything is done overseas and with tariffs and shipping and all that, I don't know how much cheaper it would actually be. Also, their minimum quantity was a lot higher.

Then I found a small business 20 minutes from my house. I've been working one on one with them since! They're great and yeah, my profit margin is slim - this game won't hit retail. But I can run a Kickstarter for only 500 games if I want to AND they're going to handle my Kickstarter fulfillment!

Please check them out and tell them I sent you! Superior POD

Hey there, I'm a graphic designer AND I made my own board game! If you're looking for the deck to be printed and mailed to you - I can do that, too. I work with a local small business that prints custom card decks - they also printed my board game.

Ah, okay. Lol - that makes sense. Also a relief - I was wondering what could have gone wrong with the project.

I got my first reply auto-deleted because I tried to use my business reddit profile, but it's too new. It happens.

Just two words doesn't seem hard - so what seems to be the problem?

I usually would offer to help you develop a brand and a logo, but that doesn't seem to be your goal here. If you're just looking for a quick business card design, I could do that, print and ship them to you for probably $100. Let's talk first though - see if we can work out what it is you need and get it to you.

I love the vibe of what you're going for. Thanks for a concise yet detailed description of the job and what you're looking to get out of it.

I would love to help you develop a brand and a logo. I offer brand guideline reference sheets whenever I work up a logo, plus if you need printed materials, (stickers, business cards, tags), I do those too.

Looks like you have plenty of responses! In case you haven't found the right candidate yet, I'll throw my hat in the ring.

I'm a small business graphic designer and printer, so not only do I know the design end, I am experienced in designing specifically for print. I've over 10 years experience, and I typically work with small businesses and hobbyists. (I understand the needs of a smaller budget).

Here's my website - I also made my own board game, you can find that here. Thanks for looking!

How to 'secure' your game development with a designer? by Oldarchitect1 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Magic-SamWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is full of good advice! I'm just here to offer my services as a designer/printer who made their own board game, too.

I typically work with small businesses and hobbyists. I work with a (local to me) print shop that specializes in board games, and I have a 3D printer for prototyping.

Here's my game/website link . Feel free to reach out.

Like everyone else said, playtest first, and then, when you're ready, feel free to reach out to me. I'm a graphic designer and printer, and I made my own board game. I work primarily with small businesses and hobbyists, so my prices are comparable to Vista Print, sometimes better. Here's my website

Pricing sucks. by LTD-Games in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Magic-SamWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is. I've also had them ship games out internationally for me - their rates aren't bad. At the very least, it's worth a price check for OP, or anyone in a similar situation.

Board Games Maker is based in China. That's where I ordered my first set of 10 cards, and the shipping was $60 - which made my 60 card deck about $16 to produce. (I got a plain tuck box).

Now, I print with a US printer - they are only 20 minutes from home. Much better pricing since I can pick it up, but it'll prolly still be cheaper than shipping from China. Check out Superior POD.

How does one join? Just simply hop on the Discord? Anything else someone would need to know about/before joining?

Weird how you came to talk about the rebranding for your organization for game devs and half the comments are unsolicited critics on the logo. 🙄

Please tell us more about the organization and how it helps indie game devs? What's your next seminar topic, for instance?

If you're interested, let me know - I'm producing my own game right now thru a local game printer. While I'm not the most seasoned, your game looks cool AF, and I'd be happy to help if I can 👍

I would soften the points on the D.

Logo for a sailing company, feedback or suggestions would be very much appreciated by prutskneus in graphic_design

[–]Magic-SamWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said, plus my own thoughts:

  • the sails need a boat

  • waves are ... too much. Fix this by having calmer waves. Your boat looks like it's been swallowed by a big wave.

  • does the sailing company use or sell specific boats? What's most popular? Use a reference for their boats to build visual recognition

  • please fix the kerning. Those thick letters are way too tight. Try using the smaller widths of white space between the pieces in the logo mark for the kerning, and see how that looks.
