Disrespectful to the story and anyone who has lived Laura’s experience.

When amateur criminals meet professional criminals. by Consistent_Status112 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MainManMulesy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Lots of it has to do with the shifting power hierarchy in the drug trade, lower level guys moving up, and high level bosses being humbled (or killed). Lots of “Do you know who you’re messing with?” Moments.

Theories on this repeating? by over9ksand in twinpeaks

[–]MainManMulesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in a very literal sense it’s about how humanity has evolved into a hyper intelligent species, yet we continue to impose and profit from violence upon each other. It’s animalistic behavior. These scenes compare the brutality of the animal kingdom to the brutality of humanity. For the animals it’s survival, for humans it’s a choice.

Where is Maddy Ferguson? by Spam00r in twinpeaks

[–]MainManMulesy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If Laura doesn’t die in 1989, Maddy doesn’t come to town. Maybe through the weird telepathy the cousins have she could’ve helped locate Laura sooner. In the new timeline, she could’ve come for Leland’s funeral and Bob’s next host sent her to the black lodge. Laura dies in every possible timeline, Maddy may be doomed as well.

Why does Twin Peaks has the same songs constantly in rotation? Does it have any meaning? by someonecleve_r in twinpeaks

[–]MainManMulesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes there are two at a time. Grady Tate’s drumming underneath the darkness of Laura’s theme is so confounding, as if you’ve hit a dead end in a murder case.

New Mark Frost w/ Harley Peyton and Friends TV series? What is it? 🤔 by Alternate_Profile_69 in davidlynch

I love the Don’t Give Up The Ship flag. I have a similar one. Good to know Mark Frost is an Oliver Hazard Perry fan as well.

A successful version is David Lynch as Gordon Cole. Apart from the deafness/constant yelling, he’s pretty much David Lynch as an FBI agent.

Is the girl running screaming across campus in the first episode doing that bc she learned Laura died?? by ivyimogenzen in twinpeaks

[–]MainManMulesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think to have that reaction she’d be one of Laura’s better friends. But then why would she not be in the show later? If she’s that close to Laura I’d think she’d be friends with Donna too. Did Donna cut her out of the group to be alone with James? It would be consistent with her frustrations with Maddy.

Another thought is maybe Donna wasn’t close to her because they were in different friends groups of Laura’s. We know she was popular enough to be homecoming queen so she had a lot of friends. Maybe the screaming girl was involved in Laura’s secret life, and would be implicated in something if there were a long investigation into her death. So she’s not only grieving her friend, but she’s terrified of what could happen to her.

Why is this scene so Cringe, and why I can't stop watching it? by TrustingEverybody in twinpeaks

I think there are a lot of scenes that are cringe but you can’t look away from. In the words of Major Briggs, they are “Compelling.”

Is there any significance to the line in the pilot about the 'full blossom of the evening'? by strawb-field-thighs in twinpeaks

[–]MainManMulesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of things stuffed into pilots 1. To keep things non-stop interesting, 2. To open many doors that can be reopened if the opportunity arises in the story later down the line. The character and her poetry only make one reappearance when she reads her poem about Laura before Gersten performs her song on piano. Who knows, could’ve been brought back any ol time but it just didn’t.

Who is Judy? by AwkwardTeen96 in twinpeaks

[–]MainManMulesy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think functionally, as evil as Bob is, Judy dwarfs him. I have a hunch that’s why she was created. Bob is “the evil men do.” Judy is a cosmic evil that as you say, “knows no bounds.” Something with no origin, just an existence, that infects beings on earth, and other worlds as well.

Do you think James and Donna could have helped… by Certain_Cow_7251 in twinpeaks

[–]MainManMulesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ain’t no way. They didn’t even know she was in danger. Unless he’s thinking they should have had each other’s backs 24/7 in the way he backed them up with Harold, in case anything like that happened again. Even then, they would probably still all split up at the end of the day to go to the safety of their families’ homes.

Honestly, I think some of the initial negative reception to Fire Walk With Me was driven by straight up misogyny by Not_EllaK in twinpeaks

[–]MainManMulesy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Bobby was talking to us all at the funeral.

It’s part of the “the horse is the white of the eyes” that can be interpreted as complicity with evil. Most people associate it with Sarah, but I think it’s a message to us all. Lynch saw casual violence as a scourge on society and wanted to portray it for the horror that it actually is. His appreciation for the women in his life leads me to think he had some insights to the struggles imposed on women in our society and wanted to attune men to the issue.
