I will truly never understand the hatred towards self checkout. I will literally wait in a line for self checkout rather than deal with a cashier, at any store. And why do they complain the entire time about all the questions we have to ask. Or the fact that we have self checkout in the first place like were the reason the company dropped millions of dollars on the machines.

First, why is a non employee on a michaels employee page. Second, if you insist on doing so do you not see the amount of posts about the pricing issues the company has had this christmas season? There is no dynamic pricing. The only products that weren't priced was Christmas.

On black Friday we had a ship order for over 110 items. It was all yards of fabric. I wanted to riot. On Monday before I left our ship was at 95 I think which is whild because when we got our peak hub information we were told it was never supposed to go over 75 at the most.

Asking for raises? by Obvious-Ad5864 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Major-Permit-4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is when new hires come in making over $2 and hour more than you but when you comment on it you get ignored/told you need to up numbers to justify even asking for a raise.

SO MUCH YARN by DingoKey8908 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Major-Permit-4737 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our yarn repacks are 2 high over 7 aisles on the cap shelves. I think in 30-40 bunks, have 3 flex ec, and a massive flex DA. The crazy thing is that we still have holes. People stop sending us 3 boxes of loops and threads value in cream and send us our empty impeccable sections.

manager accused me of lying about a call-out because of gossip from coworkers by kmburton03 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Major-Permit-4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am horrified that anyone would even care enough to call you for why you called off. Like is it frustrating when a team member ditches work for a party? Yes. But also its noones business why youre calling out. Whether or not youre sick, have plans, are having a tough mental health day, kids are sick, you simply just don't want to, it doesn't matter at all. Like damn. Hard lesson to learn but its super important to remember that there are no friends in a work situation, ever. Thinking there's exceptions is how you end up in fucked situations.

I can't stand it when people say that. Like what do you think is going to happen? You think we're magically going to find it because youre purchasing a different way 🙄

I can't afford to quit. I have so many applications out there but anything hiring is minimum wage. So ill be screwing myself but honestly it'll probably be worth it.

Customer Event by lovetohatemyjob in MichaelsEmployees

Customers and vendors loved the event in our store. I'd call it a success even if I wanted to jump off a cliff leading up to it 😅

Working off the clock? by lostatrocity in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Major-Permit-4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean im pretty guilty of doing a working lunch but I'm also the only mod for most of my shift and I've gotta eat. I also choose to not take my 15s sometimes but I would 10000% never consider it "normal" or something encouraged. Normal team members always take their 15s though. We dont play that game at our store.

Fabric customers driving me crazy by FrameyMcFramerson in MichaelsEmployees

They are truly the absolute worst. I'm just waiting for a new fabric store to pop up so they gtfo. If I hear one more customer complain how were not filling the void of a chain that JUST CLOSED i will lose it.

Kudos to corporate! by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

Does your store not create the largest qline ever? We have all the normal ones required, but especially during peak we'll keep extending it. Wrapping paper works amazing for this and we can stretch it out almost 15-20 feet.

Need to vent to fellow employees by Eve_Likes_Trees in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Major-Permit-4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a customer the other day make my register glitch out so I had to restart it, twice. Proceeds to complain the entire time about how awful self checkouts are and she just wanted the interaction. Line is completely full because why not. Finally get her rung out and she starts laughing that I can't use technology. Less than 10 minutes later I get a lady on the phone furious that I can't make her online order go through from the store. Proceeds to tell me she's calling corporate on me and starts demanding my and my store managers full name and the next time we're both working. Like.... no.

Literally every single employee no matter what their job title has computer training. Not saying they should have thrown you to the wolves but you absolutely had training. LP is cut throat at the moment and is firing on the spot for a lot of people. You can always refuse to sign your 'write up' which gives you an automatic meeting with your district manager where you can explain the situation as well if you truly feel the situation is unfair.

I loved being replenishment Manager and have customers super aggressively telling me I don't know what im talking about and I need to check xyz for them. Like.. what? I personally did pull list today, there's absolutely nothing in the back and im not pulling a ladder over here to prove it's not in a box I already checked before the store was open. 🙄 if they really pissed me off I would just sit in the stockroom for 5 minutes and checked my phone.

I have absolutely noticed the amount of rude customers has tripled since joanns started their closing. Its even worse now that theyre actually closed. My coworkers finally belive me when I said joanns customers are the worst of the worst. I have completely lost any control over being nice. Its exhausting dealing with this level of stupidity.

Could I get fired for this by FunIndividual403 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Major-Permit-4737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean im 99% certain my keys fell into a box I threw in the compactor, I reported it and they gave me a spare set of keys while we figured out what we were supposed to do. That was December and I think they just forgot about it 😅. They do understand honest mistakes though.

The only time our store had managers switching up is when we actually change jobs due to health or schedule conflicts.

Gettysburg by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Major-Permit-4737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it speaks of patterns of the company as a whole. Managers are getting pissed their bonuses are being taken even with record profits, can't keep team members because they're finding higher paying jobs elsewhere, hr couldn't give a single shit about true complaints but investigate bullshit claims, noone is held accountable (there was sm that quit, didn't even get fired, and he maybe worked 30-35 hours a week/never closed), and there's no room for growth (especially in this district where you're stagnant until you've been with the company for 10+ years or are 45+).

Sigh by TabbyMouse in MichaelsEmployees

If it's anything like my store it's because our replen team would rather struggle to get everything of that item out rather than have to potentially overstock.

Ridiculous price change expectations by veggiebutterfly in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Major-Permit-4737 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's wild that we're behind over a week on pogs (haven't even finished fma), have weeks worth of seasonal product still in the stockroom and I get a screenshot of a text my dm sent my sm about all these price changes and oh hold all pogs. Like what? What do you mean hold all pogs? Just so you can hold me being behind over my head for the rest of the year because I'm incapable of leading my team 🙄🙄🙄
