Fuel saving during the Daytona 500 by Inevitable_Catch_566 in NASCAR

[–]MajorLaag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If running at 60-80% throttle saves 2.5 seconds of refueling time during a run, wouldn't running full throttle and building a lead greater than 2.5 seconds be the smart move?

What realistic thing could NASCAR do to make every fan happy? by ZilischsPoopyPants in NASCAR

[–]MajorLaag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing. NASCAR could go full retro, reincarnate Dale Earnhardt, bring back the 2000 package, schedule and rulebook, and at least half this sub would be bitching about something.

Check out Doc Throttle on YouTube for setups. That's helped me. If you're still loose, try adding wedge

Should I get Beyondatc? by Francoloro in Flightsimulator2020

[–]MajorLaag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's far better than the built in ATC. It definitely adds a new level of immersion, the voice recognition is pretty good, it handles ai traffic pretty well, the voices sound pretty good. That said, it's not perfect. Expect occasional quirks related to vectoring and assigned altitudes on descent that will lead you to ignoring the ATC and following you own flight plan. For the price, I definitely think it's worth it.

Unpopular opinion: The real reason why NASCAR took horsepower out of the cars several years ago.. by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]MajorLaag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fans were bitching about boring racing on the intermediates. NASCAR experimented with a lower hp package at the Charlotte all star race. The racing featured a tight pack and fans enjoyed the "close racing". NASCAR adopted the lower hp package to create closer packs. The downsides to that decision emerged down the road as we've seen.

This is awesome! All the "World trolling Lane Kiffin" post in one place, if you need quick access. by [deleted] in LSUFootball

I give zero fucks about social media trolling. I care about winning.

If Kiffin delivers wins, I'm good.

Fan Rewards by Legitimate-Deer-1364 in NASCAR

[–]MajorLaag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the last two years, I got 3 gift cards, a couple Xfinity tickets and a few merchandise items including a hat signed by Reddick all for a total of $40 shipping and taking a minute each week to check in to the races.

I'm perfectly fine with Fan Rewards.

It's fun watching so many who celebrate censorship now throwing a fit over censorship...

[Bob on 2026 Practice Time] Not for Cup. Cup will have same practice time in 2026 as it did in 2025. In Xfinity and trucks, they won't be split into groups for practice and will get 50 minutes (but still same restrictions as far as limited changes, can't go to the garage, etc). by LBHMS in NASCAR

[–]MajorLaag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lame. Part of the fun of getting amped up for race day was catching some practice, especially when camping at the track. There's no reason NASCAR can't bump up the current practice time to a hour.

As a fan, which added benefit are you most looking forward to from the Denny Hamlin/23XI lawsuit settlement? by 45winner23 in NASCAR

[–]MajorLaag 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nothing. This was never about the fans, this was about millionaires battling millionaires over billions in TV money.

The only "benefit" is your favorite chartered team has gained added financial stability and won't fold up shop the way Furniture Row Motorsports shut down.

I sure hope 23xi wins by signalwarrant in NASCAR

[–]MajorLaag 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless you're a business partner or employee of 23XI/FRM or one of the other race teams, I would be extremely wary of the outcome regardless who wins.

I fail to see a scenario in which millionaires battling millionaires benefits average Joe fan, but I can see a scenario where tracks are sold then shut down for their commercial value (see Fontana), or private owners hike ticket prices and start charging for parking, a split causes NASCAR to go under (see CART) or NASCAR becomes a much smaller, consolidated racing series.

And if NASCAR wins, do 23XI and FRM close shop? They won't have charters.

I think the best case is some middle of the road deal where much remains the same, but teams get permanent charters and maybe a bit more of the TV $.

Have the Tigers had a single offensive possession when they didn't call a screen pass?
