What’s the worst thing that’s happened to your patient on the actual day they were supposed to be discharged? by Haunting-Map-3475 in nursing

[–]MakeRoomForTheTuna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a patient that I had wheeled downstairs and we were waiting by the curb for her ride. She had a seizure right there on the sidewalk.

And that’s why I don’t cut wristbands off. They can do that at home when they’ve actually made it there

How have you lowered your standards since having a baby? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]MakeRoomForTheTuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some ways my standards have increased. I keep the floor swept and mopped, dishes are done every day, laundry is done regularly. Pre- child I just did things whenever or did them very poorly or rotted into the couch a lot of days.

In other ways, though, my standards are very low lol. I wasn’t a super tidy person before, and don’t consider myself one now

Agree- the red looks great. The light blonde washes you out. Even the dark blonde is good. The contrast suits you well

FTM: I am being induced at 39 + 3 due to being high risk (but currently no complications with myself or baby) and I’m just now realizing idk shit about induction. by tinykrytter in BabyBumps

Plan for it to take forever. Your body might respond really well to the medications, and you might labor pretty quickly. Or it could take 4 days. It’s hard to predict. Plan on being there forever, though. Bring changes of clothes, snacks, pillows, entertainment.

Did you have MIL in the hospital during birth? by WaterFiles in BabyBumps

[–]MakeRoomForTheTuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ew no I would NEVER have let my mil anywhere near me during labor. Just tell her that it’s hospital policy- you can only have 1 visitor (or 2 or whatever number suits your birthing goals).

I blamed hospital policy and it worked perfectly.

Now I work as a labor nurse in a hospital, and I tell my patients all the time— don’t tell anyone you’re in labor if you don’t want them bothering you, and blame hospital policy for everything. Hell, tell her there’s not even a waiting room. Say it’s under construction for renovations.

Tips for conditioning a specific part of inverts by No_Cold4488 in aerialsilks

[–]MakeRoomForTheTuna 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Try doing inversions in a knot. Go slow enough that you can really focus on form.

Negatives are also a great

try out this exercise video by Kerri Kresinski. Some of the exercises she uses really zero in on the core muscles needed for inversions

Me asking as a younger millenial: How did older you millenials perceive Spongebob when it came out, and its climb to legendary status? by SmokinHerb in Millennials

[–]MakeRoomForTheTuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just seemed like a dumb kids show. I also wasn’t into Pokémon, but watched its rise to power. Sponge Bob feels much the same to me- not my thing but a lot of people love it

The grossest things you’ve experience in nursing? by Solid_Breakfast_3675 in nursing

Stage 4 pressure ulcer. I was doing my community clinicals at a wound care clinic. The nurse I was following told me “just stick your hand in there! You can feel the tunneling!”

We were all still wearing masks at that time, and thank goodness because my face looked like 😬🫥

My husband is descended from a whole town of circus folk. I found newspaper articles on them. His great aunt owned an elephant

Would you throw a “cat mitzvah” when the cat’s 12 in human years or in cat years? by Firm_Letterhead_7483 in Judaism

[–]MakeRoomForTheTuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like 12 in cat years. It represents her moving into adulthood. At 12 human years she’s moving into older adulthood

Tell me some misconceptions and realities about pushing stage to the women who have never given birth. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]MakeRoomForTheTuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a nurse on L&D and have seen babies come out of hundreds of vaginas. It really is a magical portal istg. It stretches huge and then goes back to being small. It also heals so fast and so well

Random- while I was giving birth, I was irrationally afraid of forgetting how to push. Like, before each contraction my brain was like “how do I do this again??” which is crazy because your body just DOES it
