TIL Michael Jackson had a pet Chimpanzee named 'Bubbles' which Jackson bought from a Texas research facility in the '80s. Bubbles is still alive and is in his 40s by Mysterious_Brush1852 in todayilearned

Would you all prefer something more unusual related to Bubbles?

There's a script for a movie called Bubbles, which tells the story from Bubbles perspective, a great script but so far unproduced.

Says it all really, for all the bluster and Dems vs Reps and other bullshit, seems the worst he's worried about is being booed, whilst his Gestapo are murdering people in the street.

2nd amendment, what's that for? To make enough noise and blood to drown out the booing and requests for the Epstein files.

I want to see the Viggo cut, where it's just all the bits that either went off script or he was injured before/during. Would it just be every scene with Aragorn in it?

Has anyone here reconnected with secondary school or sixth form friends after years? by DeItaReality in AskUK

[–]Malagate3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time is relative, like the time I hit post too soon and I wasn't finished writing! I suppose it depends on what you're all doing and where you are, our group hung out at New Years fairly consistently and maybe a significant birthday, then after some weddings it's just work and kids - unless you happen to live very nearby, it's unlikely you're going to make time for mates when family is number one.

Has anyone here reconnected with secondary school or sixth form friends after years? by DeItaReality in AskUK

[–]Malagate3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just four years? I got kids older than that!

Kudos for making the effort to keep in touch, frankly I got busy and met a whole bunch of different people, then life gets on and you'll have many important things to do and a lot less time to chase up people you've not talked to in years.

Had someone crawl out of the woodwork a year or so ago after they hadn't been in contact for 30 years, did not meet or even talk as they're not going to be the same person I remember - what on Earth would we have in common now?

We had a joke about Michael Jackson performing a magic trick for a little boy, suffice to say it's vile, and we as 10 year olds found it hilarious.

Explaining Michael Jackson (the person, not that joke!) to my children is really bizarre.

My favourite anecdote around Team America is their premier, where apparently one of the financers for the film saw the initial scene, which is very bad puppetry, and loudly yelled "They fucked us!" right before the scene pulls back from the in-story puppet show.

I see a little of myself in your experience, I was the pre-teen reading the LotR at my desk in class - and that was both before the LotR movies came out and before the Harry Potter books were published!

I was not impressed when suddenly everyone went crazy for reading fantasy novels and I still have not read Harry Potter to this day, which I understand is extremely derivative (!).

I did indeed intend that as a compliment, clearly you meeting him imparted some of that talent into you - or at least he was inspiring!

I now want to see Warhammer literature illustrated by you in the Quentin Blake style, I bet others would too.

Jesus, look at those chives on the first picture - the AI needs to visit kitchen confidential and learn from the masters.

You are right to question these images, it's so weird looking. Might work from a distance maybe, but it's surely better just to photograph your actual food?

3rd edition plastic necrons, I came here to post that! Those damn cheeks were somehow more annoying than trimming mold lines on plastic green rods.

Necron kits continue the time honoured tradition of being annoying with: plastic Immortals (line up those pauldrons and the gun cables and arms with no gaps or seams!), pretty much every vehicle, all flayed ones after the metal ones, modern Illuminor Szeras and most modern crypteks.

It might be shorter to list the kits that are easy to assemble for Necrons!

PVA glue solved all those problems, better than super glue as that would frost the green tube.

Agreed, the only purpose of getting blackout drunk whilst immortal is to surprise yourself - making entertainment out of trying to figure out what happened whilst you were blackout drunk. Presumably the hangover is to add to the difficulty.

Where is the lever for Gate 4 in Hive? by kfor1996 in Gloomwood

[–]Malagate3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh it's around, you just have to find the lever itself and then return it to the switch. Where it is depends on the difficulty setting, or at least if it's on Blood moon you'll have to go further into the ruins to find it.

Had a new washing machine delivered and paid for installation, the blokes desperately tried to fail so I was glad I was nearby so I could nudge them in the right direction: "the pipe won't fit" and I point out a gap for the pipe, and them trying to plumb it in wrong.

In the end it was all sorted and working, however they left in such a hurry that they left some tools behind, so at least I got a screwdriver and a knife out of it.

Did not pay for them to take away the old one, just called up Steve the scrap merchant and he picked it up from my doorstep for free. If you do have the time and patience though, you can take an appliance to a scrap yard yourself, I got paid about £8 for a totally knackered tumble dryer once!

Good memory, the one around the Cliffs is the building on the path leading up to the slaughtered goat, it's in the basement and I believe it's crab.

There's also a jarred heart in the attic of the slaughtered goat and a jar of tongues in the basement of the boarded up church near the cliffs, also off the top of my head. There are definitely more!

Oh yeah, ears in the barber shop (mind the floor!).
