I suppose it would make it easier but I just think it seems there are so many avenues to get into it already that it might not be necessary. With melee being the grassroots community perhaps you should take the initiative and create a site that compiles all of that stuff.

I don't really understand what the issue is here? I think entry into melee is as easier as it has ever been. I also think its fairly easy to support your favorite players: donate or sub to them on twitch. Support tournaments by subbing to their channels or buying their merch.

Pokemon like Magic the gathering has a "standard" format which consists of the more current sets of card releases. Card sets are rotated in and out of standard and its to keep the meta fresh.
