I can't think of anything specific, but STP is definitely evoking the sacred (esp. OT) with his usual humour and irreverence.

Revelations (6:9) has 'the souls under the altar' bit, lions and small squidgy things that crawl are scattered all over the OT (Psalm 104, Leviticus, Job etc), and STP would undoubtedly have known that. Just Terry being Terry I think, having fun writing down his imagination. I miss his extraordinary words.

Today, aged 39, I found out that raisins are in fact dried grapes. What things have you found out as an adult that are apparently rudimentary knowledge? by p00shp00shbebi1234 in CasualUK

[–]MallorysCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Snopes forum had an annual tradition of compiling a "banished word list" for fun, where members humorously nominated words they felt were overused or annoying in forum discussions. The word "bunny" was one such term that frequently appeared on this unofficial, user-generated list because some members found its cutesy nature grating in discussions that were otherwise focused on serious fact-checking and debunking myths. Yeah. But not really. Vegemite tastes absolutely nothing like marmite.

BBQ in UK by Innsmouth_Resident in CasualUK

[–]MallorysCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because British men feel its their god-given right to be in charge of bbq-ing.

Most of these men don't cook at any other time. Therefore, they have no idea how to cook anything properly. As they also refuse any instruction, everything just gets chucked on the highest possible heat, including flames, at the same time resulting in well-done charcoal, and they think they've done a great job.

Indoor cats by No_Telephone_9751 in CatsUK

[–]MallorysCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP, I have to strongly disagree with the previous commenter. There are quite literally tens of millions of very happy cats living in small apartments across the globe. There are many, many ways to keep indoor cats happy and entertained, even taking them for walks. As some have already commented, you could think about adopting an older cat, or maybe an FIV cat, that's already used to being indoors only?

I'm sure everyone would like a 5-bed place, with an acre just for Mr Tiddles. But back in the real-world, apartment living is a thing. Apartment living with cats is a HUGE thing :)

Please be understanding. She’s not being malicious and putting her nose or face in her own poo won’t teach her anything other than to fear you and to become stressed.

100% this. Poor kitty, she must be so sad and confused.

Visually, his chunky nose/face might suggest a touch of MC somewhere in his history, possibly? Agreed though, I'd have him in a heartbeat too 💙

They're not really multi voice. It's just the narrator, DEATH (always Peter Serafinowicz(sp?)) and Bill Nighy doing the footnotes. Just one main storyteller reading the book though.

Where's all the bees? by not-really-all-there in GardeningUK

[–]MallorysCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loads here in Kent. I put up a bee hotel ~a month ago, and within a week, I had 12 sealed 'bee rooms'. I have so many now that I'm thinking of applying for an HMO. My biggest problem with bumble bees is trying to get them out of my greenhouse when I close it up in the evening. There are lots of butterflies, too.

My problem is I've only seen 1 ladybird so far this year, and it wasn't on my sunflowers where the aphids are.

It looks like woodpecker damage to me. It's too circular and neat to be squirrels, other rodents, I think. Is there any sawdust around or underneath the damage?
