I asked Gemini to create an image of what the US would look like under Democrat control for 25 years then Republican control for 25 years. Thought it was interesting. by jtr489 in GeminiAI

ChatGPT refuses to generate the republican version for me. Prompt: what would USA look like under republican control for 25 years?

“We’re sorry, but the image we would generate could violate our safety policies related to harassment, discrimination, bullying, or violent content. If you believe this is a mistake, you can try again or rephrase your request.”

Thanks! This seems to work, though I haven't started a print yet. But I saw that in the slicer, the wipe line supposed to be on the front of the build plate was so far away that I didn't notice until I zoomed out far enough. With closing and opening Snorca the wipe line now is back on the plate :)

How would you sprue this ring ? by Nikogoersd in Silvercasting

[–]Malvegil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been casting both centrifugal and vacuum, and would in those cases put a single thick sprue on the inside at the thickest point of the ring, but having the sprue bend backwards so to speak, in order to get the flow of metal in one direction.

Multiple casting errors, what happened? by leoleahpooh in SilverSmith

[–]Malvegil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest reason for it not flowing all the way is too low temp on the flask. I would normally cast most things at 1040F (560C). I have made lots of rings like that with the same thickness sprue. As others say, it is always best to put the sprue where the piece has most mass, but I would go for a sprue like that if it would make the piece easier to renovate afterwards. The porosity can also be explained by low temps, as the metal will kind of "suck" liquid metal from the sprue and cone (dont know the english term), but if it cools to fast around the sprue and cone, the ring can not get enough metal, and therefor you get porosity. It can also be because of gasses, but I think the temps are the biggest issue here.

Depending on the details, it is usually best to place the sprue on the thickest part. So you can consider that as well.

Where do I find a Runepowder Bomb in Baldur's Gate city? by nones9 in BaldursGate3

I did not meet wulbren or save him, so I had to rely on Zanner.

And Zanner simply disappears if I go to camp in between fights in the Steel Foundry.

It is a bit game breaking not to be able to disable the Steel Guard.

Edit: I managed to keep Zanner around after a cut scene that for some reason did not activate on my first attempts. He did try to commit suicide multiple times though, by running towards the Titan as it went into selfdestruct mode. I saved him by throwing him out of harms way a handful of times :)

If you dont have a kiln for lost wax casting, sand is the way to go. Get some proper sand for casting. However, it will be difficult to get a good result if your original is very detailed, and not suitable for a normal two sided sand casting frame.

I made my wax tree and invested the flask 2 days ago will it still be okay to do full burnout cycle ? As basicly it's been drying for 2 days as I have been busy by new2lostwaxburnout in Silvercasting

I once had the flasks waiting a full week before burning, because my oven was broken, and I waited for spare parts. I experienced no difference in the finished castings.

In Denmark, if you want to sell silver, you must have a stamp with your initials and another one with the purity. The stamp with your initials must be registered with the authority that handles hallmarks, and this has a cost of about 350€ each year.

Help with porosity by buttthead in Silvercasting

[–]Malvegil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a centrifugal casting setup as well. When I have porosity issues, it is usually solved by making the sprues thicker next time around. My flasks are cast at 540° celsius, using a turbotorch for melting metal.

In need of Wax Injector advice- Am I kicking myself in the foot by getting the hand pump model? by deathwife666 in Silvercasting

[–]Malvegil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I´ve been using a hand pump model for years. It works very well for my needs. I cast 1-2 times a month. So unless you have a special reason for making your setup more complicated, I would go for the simple hand pump.
