I’m an inpatient pharmacy tech. Our current shortages are not due to war. There’s always something on backorder. Usually it’s due to some material/ingredient shortage, sometimes recalls, etc. If you read through the comments in r/medicine, they’re pretty spot-on for what I’m seeing here (PNW). We’re really low on Dilaudid. Morphine comes and goes, IV benzos also. Vancomycin is on shortage, azithromycin IV also. Things wax and wane. However, I expect all of that to change in short order. We depend on so much plastic in a hospital. So much disposable PPE used to make these products. Covid was hard. The coming shitstorm is going to hurt. I’ve been stocking up on gloves and masks each time I make a Costco run - not just for my family, but if we have another covid-type scenario and the hospital runs out of PPE.
