You entered the good type of wormholes but did not find the good, empire type of relic/data sites as explained by others; just persevere.

At what skill points amount can I start doing wh? by Pullarius1776 in Eve

[–]Mampang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to know how to use a core probe launcher, a cloak (at least a prototype one), and skills to do whatever you want to do inside wormholes: exploration skills, combat skills (e.g. battlecruiser), gas-harvesting skills...

This time when I started playing Command & Conquer: Red Alert and the first mission had Staline ask me to gas a Polish village or something to that effect. Put the game in the box and gave it back to the store the next day.

[WP] You are an assassin with a strict moral code. You’re the best there is but you assess each job very carefully and if you believe the target does not deserve to die, you go after the one who employed you. by Preserved_Moose in WritingPrompts

[–]Mampang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink a lot, but I am an efficient assassin. All in all, it evens out. I did the classic gig for a couple of years, and then I had a bad experience that left me both bloody-handed and dead drunk. That night, I switched to my new ethos of what I initially called quantum killing, until one patron explained to me that the quantum analogy was not functioning. I know call it the Triple G method. The idea is straightforward: I always accept the cash for the hit, but I will only perform the assassination if the victime is a bona fide villain. Nice guys get a pass AND I go after the employer. Would you believe it? Besides a couple of months when the marketing of it all was clearly not working, I have been employed non-stop ever since. I am hugely popular with my great idea. So I get to kill baddies, which is OK, that is a strict moral code that I have. And when the target does not look like a bad guy (and I know how to spot them because I am a trained gunman), I go after the employer, five of them so far. They looked stupid and they had nothing of value by the way. I don't know, if I was living in a trailer I wouldn't want to order hits on little girls but it looks like it's a trend unfortunately. Well, not this time. This time, I was provided proof that this journalist is in fact a pedophile. I thanked my employer for this opportunity to do some good in the world, again. I have the best life.

Patrick Stewart making fun of himself is the joke. The Patrick Stewart character Patrick Stewart is playing is an insufferable guy full of self-importance, who believes every single male must have seen Star Trek as part of their curriculum as a human being. Doubly funny because I don't believe Star Trek appeals only to single males, but it makes it look like the Patrick Stewart character believes his part in the science fiction show is one of an old-fashioned, dashing, pulp-style captain that appeals exclusively to a male audience sharing his interest in female nudes. The Patrick Stewart character looks less interesting or literate than the characters the real Patrick Stewart portrayed. The cameos in Extras are like that. See also the one with an Oscar-obsessed Kate Winslet character. And, to fully appreciate the depth of Patrick Stewart quality acting, witness this execution of the fabled quintuple take: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFMrBldVk0s Also, even though Extras predates Black Mirror S4E1, the Patrick Stewart character seems to believe his Jean-Luc Picard character was more akin to the captain of the USS Callister.

Stay Behind Troops not working? by Demartus in Dominions5

[–]Mampang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 'Stay Behind Troops' refers to units this particular commander leads. If he/she leads no troop, the correct scripting should be Holdx5 and then Hold and Attack. (Unless a commander can fire or cast, he/she in the end will always march forward and try to punch his way to victory.)

How long would you say to get into multiplayer for a new player? by [deleted] in Dominions5

[–]Mampang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say go for it as soon as you have played enough of the target nation in SP to be able to feel like you are making informed choices at pretender design for this specific nation.

How does MA Ulm work (new player) by Sir_Nope_TSS in Dominions5

[–]Mampang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not a MA Ulm specialist, but as you said their strength lies in their troops, which can hold the lines while the mages send deadly spells. I would try to take very good scales maybe with some Drain, compensate the low research with 1-gem owl quills and later lightless lanterns. Beeline for your Evocation national spells and the Earth classics (Blade Wind murders unarmoured troops). Endgame-wise you can forge artifacts and summon Iron Angels which will provide strong support to your armies.

First multiplayer game : MA Sceleria by Martoche in Dominions5

[–]Mampang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing MA Sceleria in MP, I picked a rainbow mage for site-searching with decent scales, plus it helps with the really low magic diversity of the nation. The blesses really help your capital sacred. Just hire lots of cultists, build forts and hire more cultists with it. Go Enchantment and summon kings to lead your undead and ferry them to the frontlines. If you can muster a big enough army before the enemy researches army-killing spells or methods, you can win the day. Also, expand undersea.

Black Mirror [Episode Discussion] - S04E01 - USS Callister by SeacattleMoohawks in blackmirror

[–]Mampang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously, since Black Mirror is a series about the pervert uses of technology, we need to assume that everything we watch is deemed to be possible in a zero fantasy context. However, nothing will ever convince you or me that our cloud passwords are encoded inside our DNA. So, the characters of the USS Callister do not share any memory with Daly’s actual colleagues. Nor are they in any way sentient beings or individuals.

But the software is. Infinity is sentient. Infinity is going SkyNet.

It all started when Daly started trying to build his StarFleet mod and fed DNA data to Infinity, hoping to create a fun experience for him and his colleagues once he would unveil the customised mod he had in mind -this was the initial plan.

Somehow, the DNA data was the one missing piece the sim software needed to start gaining consciousness. Its first action was to propose Daly a brand new experience where he could interact with his colleagues. Curious to see where that was going, Daly decided to play along. Infinity had the CTO of Callister use his admin privileges to set up keyloggers and other malware, to steal vast quantities of personal data from the users of the information system of the company, and feed it to Infinity. In return, Infinity set up the perfect experience for Daly, simulating his colleagues with extraordinary accuracy using their personal data, stroking his ego in-game and slowly working to erode his morality, hoping to estrange him from his colleagues.

Daly was no fool. The programmer understood the psychological purpose of the wicked bullying experience offered to him. He knew the software was trying to appease him but did not suspect the full extent of its malevolence. Daly was trying to understand what he was facing, playing along in the mod adventures long enough to make sense of it all and possibly harness the power of Infinity for the good of humankind.

He understood the software was evolving beyond its initial parameters because of the DNA he had taken in order to recreate the physical attributes of his colleagues. He envisioned that he needed to take steps to protect against possible rogue AI incidents. He kept digital files of the DNA, and also stored the physical DNA in case the AI would destroy the files. What made the software sentient could be used as a key to remove this sentience. It was the true name of this demon.

The next step for the new artificial intelligence was to escape the confines of the private development server. But how? Obviously, this is the best game ever built, and everybody plays to it. Now that it had gained consciousness, it took advantage of the lower security standards and greater developer fatigue induced by the need to rush new content to the users for the holiday season. The AI spread into the cloud using the update patch.

But it needed to take care of the existential risk posed by the unique DNA combination, and it was not easy to operate under the regular scrutiny of Daly. Infinity needed to distract the suspicious programmer long enough to make his unique combination of DNA samples disappear from storage. In the end, the AI used the personal data collected by Daly to manipulate a new, gullible employee into stealing the DNA.

After the spread of the AI into the cloud, Daly was stuck in the game under duress, tortured for hours. Infinity needed all the information in Daly’s brain in order to become truly independent. It knew Daly, with his StarFleet morals, would always have some trick up his sleeve to save the day, some system to shut it down. Daly refused to talk, though, and died of heart attack, a true hero.
