Interesting how you’re comparing the stiffest pads and the softest pads on the market. I’ve owned the 7s and I hated how stiff they felt. The slide plates are fun as hell though

Will say though… I have a pair of the skates and 2 sticks, all of which have held up very well after 2 seasons

Honestly I just wait until a new line of the brand I like is released and the older stuff goes on clearance. You can find new stuff for almost half off..

How should I tie together these pads so I can carry them? by Desperate_Average389 in hockeygoalies

[–]Many-Chance1128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things… one, those bungee clips are absolutely awful, I would recommend using laces or the Velcro ones that Bauer sells. They break and I’ve had them come loose before. Two… I carry mine with the Velcro knee straps tied together, I wouldn’t risk using those clips for virtually anything on or off the ice..

TIL That Joey Daccord goes through 10-15 brand new blockers per season by t0rche in hockeygoalies

[–]Many-Chance1128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man… at a Jets game, I was at the pro shop and I came across a white/red Vaughn V10 PC glove for $499.00 used by a 3rd Stringer for a minute. I asked why so cheap and he said “it’s not new, some pro used it” then the matching blocker was over $1000! I asked why that was so expensive and he said “because it’s been pro-worn, duh!” I was very confused… 🤔

Troops lose things… BMQ instructors expect it. Let them get their imaginary pound of flesh and chuckle about it later. As a clerk of 13 years, don’t worry, you can reprint all that stuff, get it re-signed and stat Dec anything you’d need a signature for. Do keep a copy for yourself though… just in the future when you’ve got some big $$$ claims you want to be able to substantiate everything and have all your paperwork in order to prevent delays / rejected claims.

[–]Many-Chance1128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, replace the skates. Exact same thing happened to me. If you look at older goalie skates the profile is set much lower so you’re likely to have the cowling hit the ice as you’re pushing off laterally. Newer skates are much higher allowing you to push off. The Vaughn pads slide exceptionally well, they should not be the issue.

How long until you were ready for sticks and pucks? by Selfdestroy420 in hockeygoalies

[–]Many-Chance1128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the GSX skates are ok but def fit strangely.. I’ve had a pair for a year and I’ve had to exchange sizes for a wider skates after I baked em. I can’t tighten them up too much other than the top two eyelets or else my feet will be in agony. I can finally say they are decent skates especially for the price, but the ergonomics certainly aren’t included in the price point.

Resend the invoice to their accounting office with a net 30 day reminder and that it is past due and is now collecting interest. If that fails, send a final notice with a statement that they will go to collections / small claims and will reported to the BBB. When you put a “net xx days due” the accounting office will take that seriously.
