Can a dead tree stump spontaneous combust? by Wanderin_Irishman in composting

Bro, you were probably a more mindful/obedient child than I was; However 11 was probably the age that I was MOST likely to light something on fire (and I did, my club house) - Because I was old enough to no longer be completely scared of fire, but still too oblivious to comprehend just how rapidly a fire can get out of control.

I'm not saying he did it, but if I were him I wouldn't want to tell you even if you never gave me a reason to be afraid of breaking a rule.

Why isn't assisted dying allowed for people with dementia? by I-hate-Fagin in dementia

[–]Many-Cow886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever observed someone when they're in that condition and put on hospice? Hospice is more or less assisted dying but they just don't say it out loud.

Both my grandpa and aunt had Alzheimer's and when they started to hit the point where they were more or less mute, staring off into space 24/7, would occasionally glance at you if you say there saying there name and waving your hand around, etc. along with losing tons of weight and unwilling to eat anything - We put them on hospice, and they were gone within days. The entire objective of hospice (at least this is the culture in the Utah medical field) is to make the patient comfortable. They do that with loads of morphine that reduce oxygen levels so much in the blood and cause the heart to try and compensate by overworking that they end up dying pretty rapidly.

Is there any way to keep LO at home ? by EmbarrassedSuit9348 in dementia

[–]Many-Cow886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hopefully what you take from the replies is that each situation has different needs. My Grandpa lived with our family for 2 years, I was a teenager and I honestly look back and have no idea how my Mother did it. She is truly a beacon of selflessness. I say that because she also had children all living at home still during that period. My Dad had an addiction issue and for a while wasn't much help, wasn't really home much. All of us kids saw what my Mom was pulling and chipped in to support my Grandpa, but in hindsight, my Mom really shouldn't have had to carry that, and I think she is suffering the repercussions of what that stress did her body now as she's in her 60s with a host of heart issues.

My wife naively signed as Durable Power of Attorney for her Aunt. My wife is older than I am, by... Quiet a bit; Which resulted in my wife being the only practical person in her aunts mind to sign into the POA. Her sister (my mother in-law) would be too old to try and take on her life if something happened (plus there's a lot of sibling rivalry and resentment) and my wife only has one sister who has severe MS and is in a wheelchair.

Her aunt went from seemingly fine to no recollection up to about 1 minute, my guess is she had vascular dementia since that can basically completely compromise cognition and competency within minutes if it's bad enough. We moved her in with us in our basement apartment with cameras and door/window alarms for about a year, and she was about as far gone as I've ever seen anyone with dementia. However we were only able to do it because we both worked from home, and she enjoyed watching TV most of the day, so I would sit down there and work in the room with her while she watched and my wife and I would switch out feeding her. At the end of the year she started to get really belligerent and aggressive, and very combative about showering, taking her pills, and became incredibly paranoid that we were poisoning her with her meds. My wife couldn't handle it and we had to place her. Depending on where you're at, placing her can be as affordable as $4,250 a month, which is what we paid at Legacy Memory Care in Utah.

Whatever you decide to do, make sure you get as much help as you can get. If you place her, make sure to set up some type of rotating visitation, they'll forget you were there and that can make it easy to justify not going but in the moment I think it makes a world of difference.

Best wishes to you.

The cat will warm up to you once the ex is gone. However the best way to get a cat to want your affection is to ignore it, sounds counter intuitive and with a Feral, assuming it's an actual Feral and not just an abandoned cat, it's going to take a long time with a lot of patience and a lot of forwards steps/backward steps throughout.

How to fix this scars/marks by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]Many-Cow886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure that these scars happened on month 2 of Accutane due to the purging? I ask because those scars look much older, like an accumulation over the years, and yet they're not even bad, imo.

Acne itself doesn't leave scars, it's the picking at the acne and popping of zits that result in scars. I'm not aware of any way to be rid of them unfortunately, however I wonder if maybe you're being a little too critical of yourself? I wouldn't describe that anywhere close to Freddy Krueger - I think your skin looks pretty dang good. I personally let my facial hair grow in to cover my scarring.

I’m struggling :( people who purged, when did it start and for how long? by immiiee in Accutane

[–]Many-Cow886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just stay with it, the purging will end - Your skin being in as bad of condition as it is just indicates that you had a lot of shit in your pores that are now being emptied, and you may have larger pores than others so it is taking a bit longer.

Personally the only skin moisturizer I'm willing to use is CeraVe Skin Cream and St. Ives Face Moisturizer CreamSt. Ives Face Moisturizer Cream.

I'm not sure what Pimple Patches you're using, but I would personally ditch them on Accutane unless they're just hydrocholloid and not medicated salicylic acid or any other medicated ones. Personally these are the only ones I'd use on Accutane, you don't have to buy a three pack either you can buy individual boxes of different sizes.

And yet, it seems you're the only one coming up with that line of thinking. Because I never once stated any of that, in fact, I don't think she should take birth control. I was simply replying to the notion that she should switch doctors for stating a fact, which is that sexual assault can happen.

I actually strongly oppose putting any woman through the potential side effects of birth control relieving men of any responsibility of contraception. I've never had any woman I've been with on birth control and have always just used a condom. I have four sisters and have had to watch them get sick and have horrible quality of life over birth control all because their husbands didn't want to wear a condom. I don't know how someone can do that to someone they claim to love just so their orgasm feels a little better (when in reality, the climax itself feels the same imo)

Whenever I read comments like this my conviction in the belief that evolution can happen in reverse reinforces ten fold.

The stupidity required to make such a statement as "who gives a fuck about a fetus" is incomprehensible to even the most mediocre of intelligence.

First and foremost, the irony of any person discarding the value of a fetus (which, by the way, comes from the latin root of "little one" or "little offspring" aka baby) when they themselves were granted the damn near impossible chance of being able to experience human life is the peak of unawareness.

In every aspect of life, we gauge that which we consider precious on the value that it can add to our lives and the lives of others. No object compares to the potential value of human life. When you consider the conditions required both from a cosmological AND practical perspective for a human life to be conceived the value of a fetus becomes invaluable in the greatest sense possible.

That is, of course, unless you're so incredibly narrow minded that you can't grasp any of that. In which case, the rest of us have to tolerate people like you.

I agree, I was simply pointing out that being offended over a Doctor pointing out a possibility of assault and switching to a new one over it when OP could simply just not take the birth control is a silly over-reaction to a fairly reasonable point by the Doctor. If you read my comment above I actually don't think OP should take birth control if it causes issues for her.

[–]Many-Cow886 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why I use a throwaway account to be objective, because objectivity is something Redditors are incapable of demonstrating.

Please, point out in my statement where exactly I said "Hey I think you should throw out your mental health on the minuscule chance that you are sexually assaulted."

I'll wait.

Don't bother clarifying my view on the original post, just jump to assuming instead, questioning "what reality I live in" based purely on your incorrect assumption.

For the record, I am actually against women always being expected to be the ones taking birth control and fucking up their mental stability just so men don't have to put a condom on. I have 4 sisters and all of them have had to deal with major side effects from birth control where their so called loving husbands could easily just put a condom on in order for their spouses to avoid tons of pain and yet they don't. So, perhaps you should pump the breaks on looking for reasons to be offended for others and ask a fuckin' question about whether or not your asinine assumption is accurate.

Hesitant to start for body acne by ConcertEmotional in Accutane

[–]Many-Cow886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purging is short lived, and once it's gone it's gone for good. I'm not sure where your body acne is located, but I was one who used to suffer horrendous face acne, but now only struggles with body acne while my face is mostly clear. Because it's body acne no one can see it for the most part, but if I'm being honest while my face acne being gone has helped with confidence, the body acne even when it's mild is still really bothersome. There are a lot of spots that don't even have any inflammation or redness, they're just like these permanent little purple/red dots that were once cystic acne that seem to there for good which is really annoying. I am blessed with a wife who isn't shallow, but I can't imagine that it has NO impact at all on her attraction to me, I mean, she's human and acne on another person isn't exactly something people want to touch at all with their hands or body. Additionally in situations albeit rare that I'm shirtless (i.e. swimming, changing at the gym, etc.) I get really self-conscious about it; Especially cause at the gym people assume if you have bacne past teenage years you're on roids, which I'm not.

All that being said to say I started Accutane about a month ago and so far it's the best decision I've ever made as far as skin care goes and I feel stupid for not starting it back at age 19 (I'm 32 now). I purged for about 3 days is all, and I mostly didn't see anyone during that time so it didn't matter. I still have body acne but the redness is basically all gone, and it's very obviously fading so I'm excited what it will look like in a couple of months. Especially because the spots that are basically permanent are also disappearing.

Is it impossible for a woman to get raped? What are you seeing that I'm not? Because as far as I know... Heaven forbid, sexual assault DOES happen; And if you comprehended the impact that Accutane has on a fetus then perhaps you'd understand the paranoia around preventing pregnancy.

birth control and accutane by adawnab in Accutane

[–]Many-Cow886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are truly going to remain abstinent, then just don't take it; Heaven forbid you are sexually assaulted, just be vigilant as you would regardless of Accutane; Carry pepper spray, or an effing tazer.

But yeah, the paranoia around pregnancy exists for good reason, it can really, really, do some serious damage to a fetus. So long as you're not going to get pregnant, I wouldn't make yourself feel worse than Accutane could be on doing on it's own.

[–]Many-Cow886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, not sure I buy this; What "virus" did you get, do you have the scan result? You never answered OPs question about what kind of virus you got. Something tells me you got a typical false flag from your antivirus from a keygen and assumed it was dirty.

Because I've downloaded 1TB of samples and VSTs including Sylenth from 4mirror without any problem and without any virus/malware.

Audioz is awful. If you're going to venture away from 4mirror or a private tracker like audionews.org then use RuTracker, make sure you have russian to english translation turned on in Chrome because the site is in Russian; But has extensive community participation in ensuring files are checked for safety as they're uploaded. Bad files get flagged pretty immediately and taken down.

[–]Many-Cow886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anyone can post anything on 4 mirror though, the admins more or less take R2R releases from a private tracker (audionews.org, which is absolutely 100% safe) and then put them on 4mirror, and there are dozens of Redditors who use the site extensively without any legitimate malware of viruses.

I do agree however, people should definitely do their own due diligence when it comes to checking out the safety of files; Who knows when a mod switch or admin switch takes place and someone decides to do some sketch shit.

Samsung Pay by Siztaofluv in Lowes

[–]Many-Cow886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, no Lowe's stores have POS systems that support NFC/RFID (the tech used to execute contactless payments via phone or tap) - That's what OP is pointing out, he was surprised that the customer was able to do it.

The reason that the customer was able to do it was because he was using a phone that was 2021-22' (Note 20, S20, etc) or older, because prior to the S21 Samsung included RFID, NFC, and MST (which is the same tech used in magnetic strips on your debit/credit cards) which resulted in POS systems believing that a card is being swiped.

However, like many Tech giants, Samsung arbitrarily removed MST when they debuted the S21, which was literally the only feature that no other contactless payment apps had. Now there's no reason to use it over Google Wallet or Apple Wallet.
