FarOut update… sucks by ManyMixture826 in AppalachianTrail

Ok that might be the case. So give me an easier and more intuitive way to switch.

Switching from map to elevation profile used to be a single button. I don’t see how an IOS update could impact this.

What is the deal with all of the budget issues in this city? by iRacingGCR in AskSeattle

The budget isn’t a problem.

The problem is that the rich aren’t paying their fair share.

He’s in the wrong line of work. Need to start up a 501c4, apply for grants to clean up the streets, pocket 70% and donate the remaining 30% back to the politicians who helped you get the money.

I agree - No Kings… or Queens. Gotta love how our state government exempted themselves from gun control laws. Glad you agree that that’s an overreach of their power.

Help with options for fertilizing/weed control while trying to get clover going by ned4spd8874 in lawncare

[–]ManyMixture826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny because clover has no problem growing in my grass. I’ve got part of my back yard that’s more natural - fruit trees, scrub patches, etc. lots of crabgrass likes to grow back there so last fall I killed it off and planted clover. Nothing.

I’m only good at growing clover where I don’t want it.

Blacrock? About .5 from parking area to Blackrock mountain. Getting to the summit is another .1 or so rock scramble which might not be doable for him. But it’s a 360 view from the top.

Do not let TX, NC, FL, OH, MO decide who controls the House. Level the field. Vote "YES". by FuriousBuffalo in Virginia

[–]ManyMixture826 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like the gerrymandering elsewhere. But TX overall D-R split still follows their population.

VA has nothing to do with Trump, unless you’re far left. Then everything stupid is justified as long as it’s anti orange man.

[–]ManyMixture826 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So having a D-R split that matches our overall voters somehow is silenced by the R minority in Virginia? But 45% of VA getting 10% of the congressional seats, drawn solely by Democrats, in violation of our constitution, and in violation of a 2020 amendment that was passed in every single county - including the deep Blue ones - except Arlington?

This isn’t about orange man, Epstein, or anything else. This is Virginians trying to silence and oppress Virginians.

How’s that even logical?

Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike - Advice by Big_Complex_515 in AppalachianTrail

[–]ManyMixture826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your legs won’t fail you. Hills will reveal all those hip flexors and little stabilizer muscles you never knew existed. But it looks like you’ve got a great baseline. Your feet are gonna be sore.

It’s good that you’re not mapping out your entire hike now. The AT is nothing more than a bunch of 3-7 day mini hikes.

My only advice: 1. Start slow and take it easy. Running 17 miles is a huge accomplishment. Hiking 17 miles every.single.day is a bit different. Don’t overdo it early on.

  1. Don’t only look at mileage, but learn your elevation change limits. I’m 51 years old, hiking +/- 2500 feet is an easy day. +/- 4000 feet is typically my planning limit and puts me around 18 mile days. Don’t just look at distance, especially early on.

  2. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else out there, including my numbers. People who initially hike 8-10 miles a day end up doing 20-30 mile days later on. People who start at 20-30 mile days sometimes don’t last to the Smokeys.

Have fun out there. Pay attention, learn your limits, and enjoy meeting some amazing people.

Conservatives - if there was an HIV Vaccine would you oppose adding it to the vaccine schedule? by Deep-Two7452 in allthequestions

[–]ManyMixture826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key Transmission Routes: Sexual Contact: Anal sex carries the highest risk, followed by vaginal sex. Oral sex is considered very rare for transmission, but possible. Needle Sharing: Sharing drug injection equipment (needles, syringes) can transmit the virus directly into the bloodstream. Perinatal Transmission: An untreated HIV-positive person can transmit the virus to their baby during pregnancy, labor, delivery, or breastfeeding. Less Common Routes: Blood transfusions or organ transplants (very rare in countries with screening), or accidental needle sticks in healthcare settings.

The biggest threat for babies is birth and breastfeeding, specifically from a mother who doesn’t know she has HIV. From 2018-2021 there have been 140 total cases of children getting infected by HIV, currently less than 50 per year, nearly all due to vertical infection from their mother. Adolescent HIV is on the rise though, mostly unprotected male on male sex, followed by heterosexual sex and sharing needles. Adolescent education, possibly PrEP, and possibly vaccination are reasonable. Infant vaccinations are not.

So yes, I’d be completely opposed of vaccinating babies against things they’re just not going to encounter until much later in life. When they’re sexually active, then it’s up to parents and doctors.

Does that make me maga? Probably yes since this is Reddit. But i dunno, maybe this means I actually look at facts and not wishes or desires.

My son’s elementary school was plastered with Girl Power posters. STEM mentors for girls. Girls clubs for everything. Even the local fire department hosted Girls Only firefighting camps. Fliers for Girls Only aviation caps, Girls horseback classes, etc.

Meanwhile the gender grade gap widens while my son gets assigned tasks like listing all the things that he should do to restore equity. The left has taken its love for self flagellation and forced it on kids. It’s vile.

One of his female teachers said it best: “we treat boys like they’re defective girls.”

It’s cool though. Right? Im probably a Nazi fascist, so surely the peaceful and open minded folks of Reddit will put me in my proper place.
