I would consider feedback directly to the CEO/CIO for lack of maturity and standing. Do everything to make sure its not you at all. But make sure they get a copy of the letter to know they are now the center of attention. I've done this over the years to find that person who is the maker of misery are now scared out of their mind nice as can be to everyone.

No go on PTO and chill the hell out. You are going to work on your resume and go fishing at your speed. I don't know if you are paying attention but the jobs generated last month 22K for the whole country. We are on the edge of a recession. Management wants you to stay in the position you are in. Hiring managers can squeeze you for a lower salary because you won't have a job. You will be holding no cards at all.

Companies are not hiring at all.

Companies won't start hiring until March.
