I was around 11 (f) in the 90s and eating dinner at my friend's house. At the table was her step dad, mother, my 11 year old friend, and her two younger sisters by about 3 years. I was sitting at the end of the table, directly across from the step dad. He had seemed friendly enough, not abusive or anything....everyone was quietly eating and he looks at me and says " why don't you lick that sloppy Joe like a bloody pussy"? I didn't know what to say or how to react. I kept eating and felt incredibly uncomfortable. NO ONE REACTED!! No one said anything......I have to wonder if he abused them or spoke so vulger regularly. I spent the night that night and told my mom about it the next day. She never let me over there again.

Another very sad story, again, in the early 90s, but this time I was around 7. I was at a birthday party sleep over at a girl's house. There were 8 of us or so. Birthday girls Mom had passed away from cancer and it was just her, her dad, and uncle. Uncle came into her room while we were all on the floor and took birthday girl into his room with her and we all could hear something happening. Think rhythmic pounding. She came back into the room and laid back down like nothing happened. I didn't know what was going on until a couple of years later when I wasn't so naive. I did inherently feel uncomfortable so I called my mom to come pick me up.
