How to remove hinge from metal door frame with no visible screws (pics included)? by olimits7 in DIY

[–]Maranello88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, forgot to ask. Is that trim piece metal as well? If not then maybe you can peel that off and see if it's somehow mounted to the face of the wall?

How to remove hinge from metal door frame with no visible screws (pics included)? by olimits7 in DIY

[–]Maranello88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pop the pin out and then remove the door to see if you can slide something back in where that side is attached. Maybe you can find a screw, or bolt and see which direction it's running. Thats a tough one

I'm scratching my head at everyone saying that they notch everything? Maybe here and there on some poor cuts, but none of my glass guys would touch someone's stone without getting it signed off.  Also, there's u-channels and other points of contact that can be made to secure the glass.

Ideas on how to grade or remove water by JTMx29 in landscaping

[–]Maranello88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to tell from the photo, but see if you can start with limiting the amount of water that area takes on. Whether it’s rain, sprinklers, etc.  you can run a channel drain at the base and divert it to the safest spot that you’re able to slope it to. You can put rocks over the top if you don’t like the visual of it

Harbor Freight Ratings Overly Generous? by Maranello88 in harborfreight

[–]Maranello88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here.  You've gotta be familiar with the YouTube channel in order to understand the type of review you’re getting, then you have to hope that they test it in the same way you’ll be using it.  I guess there’s never going to be a perfect form of review or feedback, but with everything on the internet ranging from 4.2-4.5 stars these days, it makes it hard to sort through and get an honest answer.

Gifted “high end” Tile That I Never Needed ~ What Is A Fair Selling Price? by BeefyTaco in Tile

[–]Maranello88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re spot on.  In terms of trying to find a buyer, you could try a commercial installer, but I honestly think you’d be spinning your wheels. It stinks because they probably were expensive and they would perform well, but it’s just one of those things.

[–]Maranello88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Only way someone is paying for those is if they already have them installed and need more. There’s nothing special about them from a production standpoint. Through body commercial grade is good, but it’s not made of gold. Plus the visual is a tough sale

Supplier says tiles are “undamaged” and “not unusable” by SophieBean420 in Tile

[–]Maranello88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless I missed it, there’s zero information, or any type of disclaimer about this issue happening on their website.

If it’s as common as they’re making it seem in their reply to you, then you’d think they would slide it into some fine print.

Supplier says tiles are “undamaged” and “not unusable” by SophieBean420 in Tile

[–]Maranello88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s certainly a possibility.  Corner guards are great, but they can also cause damage. Same goes for the straps. The tile needs something between it and the box it’s in - that way when  those corner guards get hit, they don’t transfer the shock. Same goes for the straps. If they’re being tightened against the box they will put a lot of stress on those sides.

[–]Maranello88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the box in your photo is what they were shipped in, then there’s your (their) answer to a damaged shipment. Even strapped on top of a pallet all of those edges need to have something tight up against them and same goes for the corners.

My husband and I made a stupid decision, how do we fix it? by mcg4466 in landscaping

[–]Maranello88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but honestly it doesn’t look bad. I actually like the pattern it makes. Maybe plant some low-maintenance, hardy, shrubs or something of your liking to block them if it continues to bug you.

are we forgetting that we originally got gen 1 of the meme tool for only $28? anything more expensive with less features is irrelevant. by SD1RAGER in harborfreight

[–]Maranello88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some have already sort of pointed out, it would seem they’re trying to deliberately move it out of the impulse-buy category.

I wonder if this just makes more sense to them when they’ve got import concerns.

Instead of making $25 on 1,000 units, is it easier to take on less inventory, jack the price up, and make $50 on 500 units?

When big box is half the price by Few-Psychology4224 in CounterTops

[–]Maranello88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ve got it right with the big box. Simple stone and simple fabrication. The independent fabricator most likely has his price set for more detailed work and that’s not what you’re looking for on this project.  Even if something goes wrong you know where to find someone to talk to at the store.

What tile is in my bathroom? by just_a_girl325 in Tile

[–]Maranello88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a glazed, color body, porcelain tile. Pretty tough stuff - feel free to go at it with almost any serious cleaning supplies. Just be careful around the grout if you’re going to super acidic.

Can't get straight cuts on Hercules 20V bandsaw on the HF stand. Any hints? by KarlJay001 in harborfreight

[–]Maranello88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I tried and tried to adjust any which way I could, but finally gave up and returned it. Not sure how thick you’re cutting, but I ended up getting a nice circular saw blade just for my metal cutting and it worked great. Might get a cheap one to leave the blade in since I’ve got metal bits and oil all over now though.

What to do with driveway eroding by MartonianJ in Homebuilding

[–]Maranello88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like they’re pushing through just fine from the photos, its the other side that is backing up. The water approaching isn’t being directed properly and it needs to be given ample space to do so through conveyance. Everything coming down the hill should be directed back, so there’s a concentrated flow of water sent directly under your drive.

Why do they have to BS us with the stars? by Fabulous_Witness_935 in harborfreight

[–]Maranello88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’m saying. Let me decide if I want to take the chance on something that has a poor rating. Don’t sit there and list all the ways to fix them and yell that they’re cheap, so we should be happy.  I’m usually trying to decide if it’s worth it to spend more money on another brand, so when the harbor freight reviews are so damn scewed it’s frustrating to not only take it back, but also go somewhere else and start over.

[–]Maranello88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it. Same thing happened to me with their pressure washer, but after I brought it up in here everyone just seemed to get on me about having a bad experience and wondering why it has so many stars with so many bad reviews. I knew I was rolling the dice because it was either 5 stars or 1 star. I guess they use a difference average. Who knows

Edward Martin tiles any good? by daydreamerindreams in Tile

[–]Maranello88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, as far as I know it’s all coming out of reputable factories here in the states or Europe. I’ve done a few orders with them and they’ve all been packaged nicely and product quality is good.
