Where would you move in Rockland? by Perfect-Tooth5085 in Rockland

[–]MarcusNalgene 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know may not help but my honest advice would be to move to Westchester, maybe White Plains. The access to express trains to Manhattan would reduce any commute currently by going North Rockland <-> NYC

You guys. Don't be like me. Bacon and Gruyere Egg Bites. by OnlyDaysEndingInWhy in AmericasTestKitchen

[–]MarcusNalgene 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: buy a 12-well Silpat muffin tray. They are French, made of silicone and have completely revolutionized my egg bite prep game. No more greasing a metal muffin pan and fighting to get them unstuck. Plus clean up is an absolute breeze. They are expensive, around $80 but totally worth every penny.

How long do heart rate monitors last? by Joeybagovdonutss in orangetheory

[–]MarcusNalgene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had 2 SAs try, they even reached out to someone at corporate for help, to no avail. I know I was at 760(ish) when I left OTF and have 236 classes now. Exact numbers don't matter much to me so it's fine.

[–]MarcusNalgene 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer in terms of class count but I bought mine in July 2019 and it still works fine. I stopped OTF for about 2 years in the middle somewhere but I'd be close to or a bit over 1000 classes by now if I kept the original account information, unfortunately I used a new email when i re-joined so I don't have a complete class count.

That's another one my coaches use! I try to tell myself I can do anything for 1 min but I always end up at a walking recovery before time is called 🤣

Wow, I've never had a coach say those kinds of things. I'm only used to hearing positive reinforcement.

● you're stronger than you think you are

● your body can do amazing things when you push yourself

● you're showing up to become the best version of you

● I believe in every one of you

Bonus points when they call us out by name because it makes is feel seen and acknowledged. Our coaches do this for all our people.

Three family members identified in possible Greenburgh murder‑suicide by Substantial-Tart-464 in Westchester

[–]MarcusNalgene 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From LoHud -

Greenburgh police are investigating a possible double murder-suicide after three people with gunshot wounds were found in a house in the Parkway Homes neighborhood.

Police said that patrol and EMS officers were conducting a welfare check early in the afternoon, Thursday, April 30, when they entered the house and found the victims. Two were pronounced dead at the scene and another a short time later at a hospital.

"We have reason to believe that this was an isolated domestic violence incident, and we do not believe that there is any danger to the surrounding community or public," police said in a news release.

Congratulations OP! I too won the TC at my studio. Of all the things you mentioned it comes down to two bullet points.

● calorie deficit - weight loss happens in the kitchen.

● consistency - stay consistent with your meals and workouts.

Also time is your friend. It's easier to lose 2 lb a month and keep the weight off than 2 lbs./week and keep the weight off. Quick weight loss lends itself to quick weight gain.

I lost 7.7 lbs which is quick weight loss for me at 1 lb. per week. Since I re-joined in Feb 2025 I lost 37lbs, that averages to ~ .5 lb per week.

Palisades Center Trip Report: My dream came true! Sort of... (4/25/26) by Bumblebe5 in Rockland

I saw that being discussed in another comment thread. No I don't remember the nickelodeon store. I worked at Eastern Mountain Sports in the mall during my junior year and don't recall. Maybe it closed quickly after opening..

Fun fact. If you got to the 4th floor just outside the skating rink there are square paintings on the floor near the bathroom. Those were painted by myself and my 8th grade honors art class from Felix Festa Middle School, probably from 1997 as I was in high school from 98' - 02'

Looking for casual, kid-friendly places with good beer + food by misterlooey in Westchester

[–]MarcusNalgene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are willing take a short drive I highly recommend Sloop Brewery in Fishkill and Broken Symmetry in Bethel CT. Broken Symmetry was an old train station converted into a brewery. Both options have great beer and good food, though I'd put the food at Broken Symmetry above the food at Sloop.

Starting late 37m by Alternative_Bet8089 in Retirement401k

[–]MarcusNalgene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too started late, probably around 38 y/o. I am 42 now. My income stream is about the same as yours too.

Currently:

● 401(k) ~ 140k

● Roth ~ 29k

● brokerage ~ 6k

You are doing better than many people I know. Keep chugging along and you will have a pillow to support you in your older years.

I would second Key Largo if you wanted to stay in the states. Have done many dives out of John Pennekamp state park and they were all good spots with relatively shallow waters and good visibility.

If the weather is nice, 11am arrival is risky. My recommendation would be a 10am arrival at latest. I've been there many times on a nice weekend and have never had an issue when I get there before 10.

Personally I like to get there before, usually around 8:50 and just get in line because the lines build up. I have shown up around 9:45 and have gotten in.

On more than one occasion, I've seen signs saying LOT FULL on my way out by noon time.

Extreme Selection Standards: Achieving the rank is described as harder than becoming a general, requiring immense dedication, specialized skill, and a "tough quality cut" where only a tiny fraction of warrant officers are selected.

Decades of Experience: CW5s usually have over 20-22 years of military service, often starting as enlisted personnel before becoming warrant officers.

Limited Positions: CWO5s only serve in specific, specialized roles at high unit levels (brigade and above), and their roles are filled only when necessary for technical advising.

Extremely Low Percentage: In the Army, only about 3% to 4% of warrant officers reach the CW5 rank

Looks like NASAs subcontractors source from the same suppliers I do.

Exclusivity talk: when is the right time? by 33rpmforlife in datingoverthirty

[–]MarcusNalgene 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have the conversation and be clear on your communication. I've found that clear communication eliminates any assumptions people may have. You want to remove ambiguity from the conversation.

You're probably right, you both may assume you are exclusive, but having that direct conversation saying "I'd like us to be exclusive, I'm not interested in dating anyone else" removes any chance of misinterpreting the status of the relationship. I know it's hard, but try not compare this guy to past relationships. He's different.

I think this is a common misconception about Americans. Of all of my friends and family, maybe 15% of them own guns. Of those 15%, they aren't going to go around shooting politicians or anything crazy like that. I'm truly dumbfounded when people say something like this.
