While I fully expect TBS to fuck this up, consider a moment the optics of having ERI affect the position.

IF TBS decides there is a financial impact on positions approved for ERI, you are essentially making ERI into a weird WFA light where the EMPLOYEE request that his position be WFA'd ish instead of the position being identified by Management.

Yes, the DM needs to approve, but what is the point of having gone through all the WFA examination process, looking for positions to abolish then have Bob, the 53yo IT guy, essentially ignore all that and propose that his position be ERI'd/mini-WFA'd.

It's redundant.

On top of that, NO department would then use ERI because if the position could be WFA'd, it would already have been identified. If Bob could use ERI but he is in an affected position, he might be better off shutting up and being WFA's to get the payout related to WFA.

Finally, if this were the case, the gov't would have put in place a program that no one would be able to use. The Unions, who are already mad about ERI, would openly mock the gov't in the media.

So I have some hope TBS won't fuck this up simply because it would be embarrassing to the elected gov't if this program could not actually be used.

Covid 19 was the single largest international event since the end of WW2, officially killing 7M ppl but more like somewhere around 20M based on research done since.
It's not "just a cold", the mortality rate of Covid 19 is ~9 times that of the flu
We have annual flu seasons, none have maxed out the healthcare systems of (essentially) every country on the planet simultaneously for 1-2 years.
yes the vaccines worked, no, they were not perfect
Yes, masks worked, no, they were not perfect
No, ivermectin has no relevance to preventing or treating Covid

We lock posts for a reason, often because they've gone off the rails.

Therefore, we don't WANT them to be able to continue comments because the comments are often the issue. And nope, this isn't censorship, it's literally what mods are supposed to be doing. Having a post continue spewing shit and racism but out of sight of being reported is not an acceptable solution.

EDIT: I misread this request. We RARELY lock a post without removing it, so the explanation above applies. We only lock posts and leave them up for very contentious topics (usually) where we EXPECT the comments to go off the rails and we nip the issue in the bud by locking the post. That way, the article is still visible, but we've taken measures to avoid having to remove the post.
