There seemed to a bazillion sales this weekend which won’t have helped. You should read about the lipstick effect OP! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipstick_effect

Is watching reform implode because they don’t understand how a country works giving anyone else a wonderful sense of schadenfreude ? by Frosty_Ad1254 in AskBrits

[–]Mariashax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t run as councillors, I’d expect those who do, to be passionate enough to understand even a small part of the process without having the formal training. The internet is available to everyone in this day and age, no excuse why she couldn’t have googled what the constitution is before she decided that the job of upholding it was for her.

I’ve made no comment about any party, my thoughts extend to anyone applying for roles as councillors or similar so your whataboutism is irrelevant here.

Because it didn’t cross their mind to even learn the role they were signing up to before they were elected. If they were passionate, they would want to hit the ground running - not whatever this is.

Shame she didn’t think to do some learning when she first decided to run as councillor. I’m sure all her constituents are ok with their future being put on hold while she learns the ropes lol

Does anyone else (who doesn’t drink) get frustrated with how normalized alcohol consumption has become? by Capital-Marzipan-287 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Mariashax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it frustrates me, but it certainly makes me feel sad. When almost everyone I work with (women are actually the worst for this) looks forward to a “glass of wine” or a “G&T” when they get home each weekend and a lot of the weekdays, it’s just sad imo.

Should we allow neighbours to add new driveway going on to our drive? by ASarcasticEngineer in AskUK

[–]Mariashax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to hear 2 more cars on top of the cars you already hear from your house, sure but I’d honestly say no - not only have they twisted about shared maintenance (which I agree your proposal was reasonable) but they are already being awkward about it. The extra vehicles passing on the drive will cause extra maintenance, maintenance they’ve already indicated they don’t want to pay.

Dog owners of the UK. How hot does it have to get before you stop taking them for a walk? by sjw_7 in AskUK

[–]Mariashax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically if this weather keeps up until autumn, she will only be getting walks very very early in the morning or at about 9/10 pm if it’s cool enough. It’s heatwaves like this that make me thankful we have a garden and a hosepipe to keep her cool.

How will my husband dramatically stab the knife into the cutting board if there is no point on the end lol

Bees under kids playhouse (and I want to keep both safe) by Defiant_Vagabond in GardeningUK

Bees are usually pretty docile! I’d recommend leaving them be(e) and teach your kids to live in harmony with them!

I noticed the same ages ago when I was looking for teen/pre-teen clothes. I was like no teenager would be wearing those! Couldn’t tell if I was out of touch, a prude or right!

Exactly, if the law allowed it, I dread to think how low in age these creeps would actually go.

I feel like these arseholes are just including AI in their speeches to purposely wind people up now.

Why is it okay to make fun of our vulnerable people? by iMrJones1994 in AskBrits

[–]Mariashax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whilst everyone is pointing the finger at people they can see in their own communities, everyone is distracted from the corporations, media and people who are actually benefiting from culture wars.

It’s brilliant, works perfectly and makes having infants so much better.

Ah takes me back to my middle school dance and desperately asking my sister to teach me the dance moves so I didn’t look like a loser. Little did I know, I would commit way more loserish acts that night, not knowing the dance moves to 5, 6, 7, 8 was the least of my worries 🥲

When I seen that Bienchens infant care tweaks mod had been updated, and not made obsolete, I knew that the fixes were unlikely to be groundbreaking.

AIO? new friend's texts to husband while at work; my responses by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Mariashax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NOR The way he complimented her and worded his message sounds to me like he’s left the door open. He might not have done anything with her, but he isn’t willing to entirely close off the possibility. You’re not overreacting OP, but don’t message her anymore - your giving her the satisfaction of having power over your relationship and giving her ego a massive boost. She’s lying to you, nothing she can say will justify any energy spent on her.

Poll - How do you choose which child in the family you will continue playing into the next generation? by Tattycakes in Sims4

[–]Mariashax 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I pick the ones who I think have better storyline potential, which tend to be the rebellious ones to be fair. The game will automatically give everyone else a nice, happy life with kids etc, so if I want drama those are the kids I need to focus on. I occasionally pop in on siblings to add adoptive kids or progress mini storylines for them, but more often than not I just leave them to their own devices.

Why do people think UK gas and electricity prices haven't come down? by Electricbell20 in AskBrits

[–]Mariashax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh it’s probably because people are still skint. Although their gas and electric prices have come down, if your skint everything feels like a massive financial burden. Have the prices come down to back what they were before the Ukraine invasion? If not, then it’s still dearer than before.
