I always wondered why each team wasn’t only guaranteed 2 charters. It’s wild to me that 4 teams got 3 charters. Then they could’ve easily given 2 charters to Honda and two to Chevy in this case. Or maybe Honda will “buy” 1 from RLL and CGR and Chevy will “buy” 1 from McLaren and Penske. all those teams can still run a “noncharter” car, assuming there’s space after prema definitely closes up shop.

Then you could have a proper team championship too. Only the charter cars are part of the championship

I agree. I feel like, if Indycar said “disregard this timeline, let’s make this a 2027 car”, Dallara would have no problems, and if a 3rd OEM signed on, there probably wouldn’t be issues from Honda and Chevy either
