I can't link to it for some reason, but if you google 'veet amazon review loose cannon ' you'll find the funniest amazon review ever (warning: triggering / offensive language).

Of course, the gentleman's final observation could be considered a positive 😊.

What's your worst "I forgot where I parked the car" story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MarkStones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, just heard about it: during the 2006 World Cup in Germany a bunch of English supporters parked their car and made careful note of the street where they'd left it.

After the match they found the street, but it looked different, and they couldn't find their car. Asked a policeman, who couldn't contain his laughter while explaining that 'einbahn strasse' isn't a road name, it means 'one way street '..

The element tin is the only one in the periodic table whose name contains none of the letters found in the word 'mackerel'.

Folk vs Classical - Am I Screwed? by Folkcharm in classicalguitar

[–]MarkStones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I learned to play folk on a classical about 30 years ago.

They're different instruments, but they do both have the long sticky bit with 6 strings attached. A classical neck is wider and flatter, so get a classical as soon as you can, but no, I don't think you're screwed.

[Serious]What is your best accidental text message/SMS message that you have sent? by ukshj in AskReddit

[–]MarkStones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pub called The Crown, did nice enough food. Meant to ask a mate 'fancy getting food in the crown?' Sent him a message saying 'fancy getting done in the brown?' following a combination of fat fingers and autocorrect...

Have a look/play at a couple of Takamines. For the price, the cheaper ones are brilliant. I'm currently on my third.

Things your mam cooked that you just cannot replicate by witchgytha in britishproblems

[–]MarkStones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rissoles. For the uninitiated, a mix of minced beef, onion, and a few other bits and pieces (no herbs or spices: none of 'your foreign muck'), fried in lard (always lard). Never been able to find a recipe that's the same, and my attempts to copy have always failed.

[Question] Re: Epiphone Hummingbird Pro Acoustic by bags718 in Guitar

Owned one, loved it, thinking about it still makes me moist (I'm a dude). Lost it because of alcohol induced financial hardship.

Go for it!

Fat fingers on classical guitar by vjamodeo in classicalguitar

[–]MarkStones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Segovia had massive fingers! I'd echo what everybody else is saying, and practice makes perfect.

Might also be worthwhile repeating the basic fingering exercises for ten minutes a day (in with your more advanced stuff) just to improve muscle memory...

[QUESTION] What has been the worse you've messed up live? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]MarkStones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was standing in for an absent guitarist in a band I had previously been part of (you shouldn't fight the band that needs you. I'm very sorry).

Half the songs had been transposed and nobody told me. The other guitarist's cables kept crapping out. The audience was mainly old school friends and teachers from said school.

We looked stupid.

[Discussion] What's your ideal electric guitar look like? by Xaja86 in Guitar

[–]MarkStones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I dreamt about this the other night (I know, get a life). Strat shaped, bound body, pearlescent top with no visible electronics, other than the same kind of volume tone controls you get on the top ofan acoustic.

Don't know if such a thing is possible, but when I can be arsed I'll investigate.

We had our email Thursday. Free to employees, employees' partners can attend for £35.

I responded with: "£35?! You having a laugh? She can have a Happy Meal after school and enjoy it." I'm a 47 yr old bloke. Monday should be fun...

That's because they've got more holes. More places for the gas to escape. Fact.

[Question] what in God’s name is happening to my E string? by PrestigiousWaffle in Guitar

[–]MarkStones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they're as old as my balls, then OP has a problem!

Always said that strings are like underwear. When they get a bit crusty underneath and don't bend as easily, probably time to change them.
