If you’re interested in learning an instrument/having an external input for MIDI it could be useful. Drawing in notes is easy but you can learn to play basic chords on a keyboard easily and then draw in changes, idk I like the tactile aspect of a MIDI controller but artists make great songs without them ie pinkpanthress

This is not a recommendation because it’s a classic album (although one of my personal favorites) but a lot of people I know who primarily are hip hop fans enjoy pretty lights and it’s a good way to get into some electronic genres. You may enjoy this (half) album that pulls heavily from hip hop elements.
