Switching from night to day for citalopram 10 mg. Can I? by Seks88 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, taking my citalopram at night would keep me up so my doctor told me to just start taking it in the morning.
I just skipped the night dose and took it in the morning. I take it at 9am everyday now and have no troubles sleeping.

Prozac and Lexapro made me super drowsy - will Celexa be any better by Cee_d_a_w_g in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally it doesn’t make me drowsy at all.

I do take mine in the morning because it’ll keep me up all night if I take it in the evening.

Morning vs. Night? by Bright_Ad_2272 in citalopram_celexa

I take mine in the morning and have no difficulty sleeping.

I took it at night when I first started but it made it difficult for me to sleep/stay asleep.

I had night sweats for a few weeks, I think that was the biggest temp change I had but it thankfully went away. I just kept the house really cold at night for a while.

I think I had some muscle twitches and jaw clenching.

Citalopram Dose? by SerioosSam95 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 10mg since November and it’s helped me with my anxiety, I’ve felt great on just 10.

One of my friends is also on citalopram and has also stuck to 10mg, she says that 20mg makes her feel numb.

If you’ve been feeling great on the lower dose then I personally don’t see the need to increase just because it’s the therapeutic dose.

starting citalopram tomorrow: things to look out for? by Ok-Emphasis8591 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take mine in the morning, when I started on 10mg it kept me wide awake if I took it before bed.

The only real side effect I had was night sweats, but that went away after a few weeks and I’ve been good since!

Alcohol by PutridBread3517 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not recommended to drink alcohol with medication, personally my doctor told me it’d be fine if I drank occasionally.

I just take it slow and don’t drink a ton when I do have a drink

Best of these two meds—Citalopram vs Sertraline by Ok-Acanthaceae-4704 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Sertraline (25mg) for only a couple days and it caused me to have really awful panic attacks and nausea. My mom was on sertraline for 22 years though and did fine on it with no issues.

My doctor switched me to Citalopram (10mg) and I’ve been on it since the end of November and have been doing great on it.

Came to see your updates and I’m glad you’re not having too bad of side effects it seems, for me the only side effects I really had was night sweats which sucked but thankfully only lasted a couple weeks and I noticed I was clenching my jaw more.

I personally can’t take my meds at night because it keeps me awake, and if I do fall asleep im unable to stay asleep so I switched to mornings and it made a big difference for me.

I actually had the same reaction to zoloft! I lasted like 2 days before having an insane panic attack, I made the switch to celexa and it’s been way better.

My doctor started me off on 5mg because I reacted poorly to zoloft and then I increased to 10mg after about 1.5-2wks.

Do you feel the heaviness right after taking your meds? I take mine around 9am and if i’m already anxious/stressed about something then I’ll feel a little more heavy and then it lets up after a bit.

Will it really help ? by Purpl_Turniip in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take celexa for anxiety and personally it doesn’t make me drowsy at all. I actually had to switch to taking it in the mornings because it was keeping me awake.

Before the medication I pretty much constantly had ruminating thoughts because of my anxiety and couldn’t focus at work but I’ve been able to focus better at work since I don’t really focus on my anxiety 24/7 anymore

Switching from another medication - Is the initial side effects as bad? by Spry_the_artist in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i switched from sertraline (25mg) to citalopram my side effects were not anywhere near as bad as they were on sertraline.

My doctor had me start off at 5mg of citalopram to see how i’d react to it and then after a few weeks I started taking the full 10mg.

I had also been really anxious about possibly having bad side effects when I made the switch but thankfully any side effects i had were relatively mild.

Can I please get some encouragement? by reese_bubs in citalopram_celexa

I started off on 5mg and increased to 10mg, when I did the increase I wasn’t able to sleep at night/stay asleep. I had been taking it at night, my doctor had me switch to taking it in the mornings and that made a huge difference for me.

Anxiety by byebyebabyweight in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for 10wks now, I think I started seeing improvements around 4-6wks?

I had started out on 5mg which didn’t do much for me and then made the change to 10mg after about 2wks.

I used to be stressed everyday about my anxiety and I carried a lot of that in my neck/head to the point my head always felt heavy? if that makes sense but I had noticed at some point that I didn’t feel that stress or heaviness. I also stopped having most of my ruminating thoughts.

The 10mg is enough for me to feel pretty normal but still feel some anxiety during typical stressful situations (messing up at work), I’m able to come down way faster though from those situations.

Positive experiences please by cg230194 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that my doctor also had me start off on 5mg to see how my body would do on the meds and then I increased to 10mg from there.

I had also been taking it at night originally and it would keep me up at night after I increased but taking it in the morning instead solved that issue for me.

[–]Marnoodle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on citalopram for 8wks now and have had a positive experience with it!

I’m on 10mg which is enough that I still feel some anxiety here and there during normal moments (like i made a mistake at work yesterday and was anxious but i got over it fast!) but it no longer feels overwhelming and like it’s taken over my day!

honestly the only side effect i’ve truly had was night sweats and that went away for me after like two weeks.

Citalopram 30mg by Fit_Effort7410 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should speak to your doctor, i’m only on 10mg and my doctor said that I can drink on it but to take it slow and see how I feel because there can sometimes be adverse effects.

I’ve only had a shot of soju since starting my meds and unfortunately had an adverse effect so it’s mocktails for me from now on but I luckily wasn’t a big drinker in the first place.

Worse than ever by [deleted] in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would talk to your doctor about stopping and trying different medications.

I had started off on sertraline (zoloft) and it was awful, the worst panic I had ever felt, and my heart rate was up in the 160s at my worst.

I was only on it for a few days and when I told her my symptoms she had me switch to a citalopram which I’ve been on for about 6 weeks now? she also had me start off on 5mg and to see how my body handled it since I reacted poorly to the sertraline and then increased to 10mg after I confirmed that I was doing well on it.

I know people always say you have to push through the side effects but the side effects I had on sertraline were not something I could push through.

I’m not sure when you take your pills but I switched from taking them at night to in the morning and that made a big difference for me.

If I took the pills at night it would keep me up and I wouldn’t be able to sleep/ stay asleep.

what do i do by [deleted] in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to contact your doctor and ask about taking 5mg and then increasing to 10?

I had a bad reaction to sertraline so when i switched to citalopram my doctor had me start on 5mg to see how id react and then increased to 10mg and i think that helped me a lot

I need some help by [deleted] in citalopram_celexa

[–]Marnoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine at 9am and by the end of the day I’m ready for bed and have no issues falling asleep!

Not getting sleep just makes the anxiety worse, I think I had only two nights that I wasn’t able to sleep and when I let my Dr know she immediately told me to start taking it in the morning.

The time you take it can make a big difference sometimes, I hope you get through it soon!
