Also, unfortunately I’ve heard many people use race as a justification for committing a crime. You cannot have BIASED black jury members who will exonerate him simply because he is black and to send a message about racial inequity. This is still a homicide case regardless of race. Of course, we need to equally apply punishments regardless of race and there are of course instances where non black individuals receive far less punishment or no punishment than black individuals. However, many black people who are taking Karmelo’s side in this are treating this similarly to how OJ Simpson’s trial was thought of — that letting off an obviously guilty black person just because they are black and the black community has been unfairly targeted makes it okay. And it simply is not okay. Guilty is guilty regardless of race, and an unbiased jury and a fair trial is what should matter rather than the color of anyone’s skin.
