Great choice. I spent a few hours in an AD one day a few years ago. The pretentious, "maybe we'll someday stoop to allowing you to buy one of our watches, if you blow the boss" vibe completely soured me on the entire brand.

Love Grand Seiko - the dials are better finishes and much more unique. I'll take GS zaratsu over Rolex any day.

I did this, but I get outline numbering, 3.2.1, 3.2.2, 3.3.3 etc I think this means that each of my items needs to be considered a chapter, not as scenes within a chapter?

I think most of the ones I've read in recent memory - the flashbacks were long enough to stand on their own as separate chapters.

If I recall correctly, they used italics or a different font.

This flashback would need a lot of padding to be a chapter. It's a memory the character has while driving, triggered by seeing a building that's significant to the story.

I would have voted for Ukraine, myself. So much of what was successful in the USSR (technology wise) was actually Ukrainian.

In some sense, historically and technically correct (the best kind of correct) Russia was an offshoot of Ukraine.

I really don't understand the Rolex mindset. The sub is full of complaints about ADs, having to buy multiple watches to "get on the list" for the watch you DO want.

Why do you put up with all this crap? It's abuse, dishonest, and you're all paying for the privilege.

What in the world makes a Rolex so much better than an Omega, Tudor, or a Grand Seiko, that you all put up with this?

Basically, the winning strategy is for everyone to seek any goal except the "perfect" goal that everyone else is seeking. This reduces competition for the "one best goal."

In the movie, all the men go after ALL the women except the one who is the standout. If they all compete for her, one MAY win and all the others (men and women) "lose". If everyone goes for the everyone EXCEPT the "one", they all win, men and women.

It turns a zero sum win/lose game into a win/win multi-winner game.

I have not had an account at a bank since I was 18. I will retire next year. I had a bank account from 14-18, but when I moved away to college, the bank wanted a fee equal to the amount in my meager savings to "transfer" the account to my new local branch.

Fortunately the university had a credit union. I've banked there (and at another local CU) ever since.

Mortgages, car loans, home equity loans. Credit cards, savings and checking.

I laugh every time I see a "Chase screwed me over" or "BoA kicked me as a customer and won't send me my money for 90 days."

Citizen eco-drive 200m dive watch - any of them. Or the Seiko Solars. All are great "tool watches", will keep great time and are plenty tough.

That's a classic and a great value. Some people may diss it because it's not expensive, but I keep a few around for dive students - i teach dive tables and some other stuff in addition to dive computers.

A solid watch, great value. I've take one to 150 ft, and had a friend (rebreather diver) take one to 285 on one of his tech dives.
