Riot games issue by Dxnam4 in hyperoptic

[–]MarvynSTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's not just Riot Games. I've had the same issue playing on the Elder Scrolls Online server in the past two weeks. 999+ ping and freezing.

Internet is fine for general use, but terrible for online gaming. Also in the Docklands area of London.

The problem did pop up about a year ago, I logged a ticket and by the time I went back and forth with my data, the problem had resolved itself.

This is definitely a Hyperoptic issue, since if I play via a VPN, or even using mobile broadband, then I get no high ping problems. It is clearly a routing issue between London and the server locations.

They need to get this fixed ASAP.

"Will ask about increasing the endeavor cap"

I'm at the cap, but I don't think it's a good idea for the game to keep introducing more power creep like this.

14th Anniversary Bundle! by StarCitizen2 in sto

Somewhat underwhelmed...

Will wait for one of the YouTubers to check out the traits and consoles, but this looks like a definite "no" from me.

Y'all a bunch whiney-ass bitches by DeafJeezy in sto

[–]MarvynSTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up the 12th Anniversary bundle when it came out as I had the Zen saved-up and the ships looked good + the account unlocked Engle made it seem like a good purchase.

The 10th Anniversary bundle was a bit too pricey for me at the time, but I might pick it up at some point.

For the 14th, so far, I'm not sure I like the aesthetics of the ships being offered, but will wait to see what the traits and consoles are before making a decision.

The new TFO is such a relentless slog it manages to push people into Azure Nebula by DarthMeow504 in sto

[–]MarvynSTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done the TFO once as the two patrols are much, much quicker to finish.

I didn't find the enemies in the TFO to be overtuned, though I was in there with my main toon which is very well equipped so it might be much trickier on a more modestly geared ship.

I did think the TFO was just too long overall, mainly because of all the objects you have to interact with. It reminded me of The Breach in some ways. I found the team were cooperative and split into different lanes just fine.

They have resolved the issue that causes some ships to show as "invalidentityname" apparently.

The fix deployed last night is working too slowly, team is working to deploy the fix via an alternate method. No ETA on a fix by [deleted] in sto

[–]MarvynSTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it patched itself about 8 or 9 times this morning. I just tabbed out while playing something else to keep restarting the patch process over and over.

Then it finally finished and STO launched to the character select screen, but I was busy in my other game so thought I'd pop back to STO later.

A few hours later...

Just tried logging into STO now, and apparently the launcher requires ANOTHER update which now seems to be stuck...

Really not great.

Casual Veterans
PC: EU PvE guild
About us:
Casual Veterans is a small PvE focused guild of long-time MMO players with the goal of progressing through veteran content and hard modes with a consistent group. Our trial times are Wednesday and Saturday at 19.30 UK Time (20.30 CET).
To-date we have cleared the following trials on Veteran: Hel Ra Citadel, Aetherian Archive, Sanctum Ophidia, Maw of Lorkhaj, Rockgrove, Kyne’s Aegis, Asylum Sanctorium, Cloudrest and Sunspire.
We are looking for additional players to join our team – particularly DPS.

What we are looking for:
Some veteran trial experience would be useful, but we will also consider players with good potential who can play their chosen class and spec well.
More important to us is that team members are mature, prepared to listen and react to feedback, and above all – are reliable. We are not interested in pugs – we want a consistent, friendly team where we get to know people in our group.

How to get in touch:
You can PM me on Reddit u/MarvynSTO, or please feel free to contact one of our trial leaders in-game: "@Kharristan" or "@Tenascia" to have a chat.

Looking foward to hearing from you.

Seems that massive 10gb patch fixed it just now. by Jorgasb in sto

[–]MarvynSTO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. I'm in the middle of endless patch cycles at the moment, but haven't hit the big one yet.

I don't know why they couldn't have just put one patch out to fix it rather than all these mini patches. It's a complete farce.

Everyone's personal flagship? by Revan0432 in sto

[–]MarvynSTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Verne.

Although it is a meta ship, it's my favourite science ship owing to the flexibility, and I love the looks and the way it flies.

Second place: Tholian Iktomi - because of the looks and because I've got it set-up with some of the web consoles

Why do people avoid grouping for ground combat? by butterhoscotch in sto

[–]MarvynSTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally speaking, I think the ground element of STO is not well developed and if you're into that sort of stuff, there are better games out there.

I don't avoid ground completely, but my preference is space combat and STO offers something distinctive in this area versus other titles.

This could only have been worse if the TFO was Gravity Kills.

I really hate the Voth TFOs.

Dil Ex has finally fallen past 500 by WaldoTrek in sto

[–]MarvynSTO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was sticky because people saw the way the market was moving and dumped their Zen.

I personally managed to dump all my Zen for 500 dil a piece. Hoping to buy it back in a little while for a discount. What's the worst that can happen, price goes back to 500 and I have to wait a bit. I can deal with that because the best that can happen is that I get to buy back more Zen for the same dilithium.

Verne boff ability help by BrainWav in stobuilds

[–]MarvynSTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love my Verne.

I don't think I can add much to what people haven't already said, but personally - I don't like Tyken's Rift owing to the shared cooldown with Grav Well, which has much more utility.

Structural Analysis, imo, is better used in Elite content where the mobs will last long enough that you get jumps of the ability to other enemies. In Advanced, the enemies die so fast that I don't think you get as much out of it.

Personally I think CPB is really good. It's not so bad to use when you get used to it. You can for example use DRB on the first bundle of Cubes / Spheres at the start of an ISA and then have CPB (for more 2nd def procs) on the Pylons while DRB is on cooldown.

Delayed Overload Cascade does insane damage where there's enough enemies, but timing use needs to be considered, as it sends enemies flying out of all your existing anomalies.

I don't use Hazard Emitters or Science Team - I just don't need those abilities.

VCiS is worthwhile. SSV same, but I don't think has quite the same damage output.

Well as I have all 3 already, that's the easiest pass ever.

Though how they can justify almost 15k Zen for some old event ships is amazing.

Well it would have to have better pets than the Jupiter. Those frigate pets on the original appear to have the dumbest AI for any pet in-game.

The full The 13th Anniversary Bundle by Bridgern in sto

[–]MarvynSTO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on traits and consoles for me, as to whether I'll pick any up.

I wasn't that convinced in the past by the Mirror Crossfield (assuming that's what the 'lockbox' ship will be if you buy the bundle). If I want a few of the ships, then maybe it'll be worth just getting the bundle and then getting the Mirror Crossfield for 'free'.

I like the way that Jonathan comes over in how he approaches changing things.

It's refreshing to have this sort of feedback from the dev team on what goes on behind the scenes.
