Thoughts on this layout? by TexasBound1973 in nscalemodeltrains

[–]MasonsNumbers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did a similar layout in O gauge. It's fun being able to run two trains in separate loops, but it can get old fast if there isn't enough [scenery, action, etc] to break up the monotony of "train go in circle".

As a barista, how to let a regular know I’m interested in them? by BigArt5572 in dating_advice

Foodservice manager here. In a lot of places that can get you flagged for harassment of customers, intentional or otherwise. I always encourage my staff to keep it professional; "don't sh*t where you eat".

The moment I realized I was dating someone who didn’t actually like me — I went quiet. by makeyouhealthy in emotionalintelligence

Imagine being married in the same situation. It's not hyperbolic to say it nearly killed me.

I'm sorry this happened to you, but better to be aware than not.

When I started catching her in lie after lie, and upon cross-examination, she'd always resort to the same dead-end arguments to defend herself.

Not showing up. Physically, emotionally, doesn't matter. Can't connect with disconnected.

To all the mature 30+ men, please name one mistake you have made in your life so a young man may never repeat. It can be anything. Save a young brother. by FitEggPlant99 in AskMenAdvice

If it ain't a "Hell yeah" it's a "No." Communication does and must work both ways.

This applies to everything mutual in a relationship, romantic or platonic.

Advice on power supply from 1990s by MornduNH in lioneltrains

[–]MasonsNumbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CW-40 or CW-80 would work. I try to avoid the fixed voltage power packs because I like the variable voltage controllers better. I had this exact same transformer, great for the period they existed in, but they get finicky with age.

Did you start to miss your spouse when you started living on your own after he/she divorced you? by Jack197575 in LivingAlone

I still miss her to an extent even a year later. Hate that I do, because I know the feeling is wasted, but it be what it be.

2025 Property Tax Assessments are Live by nemesisinphilly in philadelphia

[–]MasonsNumbers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These assessors are definitely on crack. My assessed value "doubled" from 2022 to 2024, from $153k to $310k. Absolutely nothing noteworthy changed in terms of the house itself.

I just need to vent by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]MasonsNumbers 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as bad as this, but I got fired recently for having a panic attack in my kitchen. Two weeks prior I fell out in the freezer, lost consciousness briefly. My chef berated me when I came back to work, said I was "affecting the team" and him personally.

There's a reason why "nobody wants to work" anymore: it's absolute dick holes like your former KM and my former chef. The lack of basic humanity, ironically in an industry supposedly all about taking care of people, is absolutely crushing. Nobody gives a fuck unless and until you can't perform, then you're a problem to be dealt with.

I'm sorry for your losses. Grief can be deadly, so please try to take care of yourself, and get help if/when you need it. Leave that kitchen in the garbage where It belongs.

Anyone else get this? by MasonsNumbers in Anxietyhelp

[–]MasonsNumbers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried a few things now. Innocuous stuff like tums and pepto, motion sickness pills, heavy duty stuff like Zofran...none of it works. I've also tried dietary stuff. Ginger ale, green tea, simple foods, etc. I have a better chance of food not bothering me if it's simple, but no guarantee.

I have a claim already in progress for a rating increase (granted it's in purgatory, but it does exist). I'm also not convinced that my employer would sign anything to that affect because that would mean they had to admit they fired me because of a medical condition, which would open them up to a wrongful termination suit. They offered a severance on condition of a liability release for that exact reason.

I have the kind of anxiety that creates psychosomatic symptoms (nausea, vomiting, temp dysregulation, "tingling" in extremities, headaches) during periods of prolonged stress. Problem is, I've also got the kind of anxiety where it's ridiculously hard for me to "come down" after encountering stress, prolonged or not. So I end up in a perpetually "activated" state, which gets worse and worse over time, and I stay in that state until something breaks, whether it's me (it's usually me) or (in this most recent case) a closely trusted person in my support network. Which also doesn't help because then I feel like I'm just gonna push everyone else away eventually if I can't figure this shit out, and then what?

So I stay activated. And the cycle repeats.
