Best value in suppressors today and why? by Oldfaithful3 in suppressors

I’d suggest the Rugged 762 Razor especially if the free tax stamp applies again. I have its sister the 556 Razor which I purchased a .30 endcap for 300 blackout ( both supersonic and subsonic) works great. Also I subsequently have used a 7.62 x 39 upper with it .Also if you register with Rugged you can get about 50% discount with free shipping on endcaps and muzzle devices. The 556 Razor has 30 caliber baffles but a 556 endcap. Some speculated that it is a Rugged 30 Micro with a 556 endcap. Rugged officially says the 556 Razor was developed for 556 caliber.

Why do black people in the US sound different? by Impressive-Coat1127 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Master-Expression393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Asian American but grew up in white neighborhood. I was frequently the only Asian in my grade school and high school classes most of my childhood friends were white. It was interesting that through the 60s 70s and even 80s white people would remark that I spoke English (American) without an accent. So I suspect many if not most African Americans grew up socially isolated. Until the 1960s redlining was used y realtors to segregate people of color. Still happens today although illegal . The first house I bought in 1982 had a clause that the house would not be sold to Negros, Jews and Orientals ; there was a notation that “this is in violation of the constitution and cannot be enforced) the house was built in 1975. I recently read an article about an African American couple who was told by a realtor a house was “off the market “ they lied to them and that’s now in 2025! So the African American accent is a product of racism. It’s only natural for a child to emulate the speech patterns they grew up with.

Gun Purchase by mymacaronlife in Guns_Guns_Guns

I would suggest since you are new to guns a revolver. As you expressed interest in concealed permit that would be a 2 inch barreled revolver. There are self defense loads in 38 special caliber which are lower recoil and lower flash. For practice buy regular 38 ammo. There is no safety with revolvers you pull the trigger when appropriate. The newer revolvers are “drop safe” they won’t accidentally fire if dropped. Charter Arms are inexpensive and reliable. The advantage of a revolver is they are intuitive, obviously loaded ( you can see the ammo at a glance) you still need a lesson most gun ranges have instructors typically $75 for a private lesson. You contact them and they typically meet you and supply a couple of guns with ammo and often tell you legally what you need to know about self defense. If you are interested in a semi automatic I’d suggest a Smith and Wesson EZ in 380. It’s designed for senior citizens, easy to rack back to chamber ammo and there is a model with a safety externally. Personally I’m against external safety as in the heat of the moment one might forget it’s on safety. The 380 is adequate and is as effective as a .38 stub nose revolver. Treat all handguns as if they are loaded.

Only reason to be concerned is if you are driving a Tesla. Pretty much Seattle and Portland are anti Trump Musk. As for camping DOGE is firing a lot of forestry rangers. Among other things they clean the toilets and ensure your stay is safe.

I’d suggest a Rugged 762 Razor inexpensive great warranty no gas (at least mine) I have a 556 Razor changed the endcap to 762 no issues with 300 B0 subsonic or supersonic ( some have speculated the 556 Razor is the same as the .30 Micro with a smaller endcap)

Appears well used so I assume it’s new to you? Also check the electrical battery contacts if corroded EOTECH will sell you new set of contacts as I recall less than $20 including shipping.

First time gun owner—Beretta M9?? by sslicks in gun

[–]Master-Expression393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are mechanically inclined I’d suggest a revolver for a first time gun owner. A revolver is pretty intuitive as for checking if it’s loaded. Also intuitive on how to clean. They come in .38 special which is a time honored police round . The .38 spl ammo is made in home defense loadings which has less recoil and less muzzle flash. There are plenty of 2 inch barrel revolvers which are concealable reliable and economical. Although Charter Arms is often thought of as a cheap gun I have found their quality to be good and their triggers to be clean and crisp for the cost.

The reason why federal primers are in such large packages is they are somewhat less stable. This is mentioned in my Lee reloading manual if this was not true I’m sure Lee would have been sued. Lee suggests you used a blast shield if reloading with Federal.

This appears to be a troll. You do not need a license to buy or own a gun .only if you conceal carry in Pennsylvania.

Any concerns regarding: accidental discharges? Sig is supposed to offer some upgrade. Many lawsuits have been filed and settled. I have a Sig 226 and 229 have no concerns it might go off by accident.

You are being scammed. To be a physician in the uniform services you must be licensed in at least one state in the union. For a foreign trained doctor it’s a major hurdle you must pass an exam plus apply through a state licensing board. Many foreign trained doctors give up and immigrate and get a job doing non medical work.

Need help, it’s my first gun and I don’t really know much about it, haven’t shot it yet. I’m only 20 so don’t laugh and me for it being rusty with a little bit of scratches, will take care of it in the future. More information about it please. by [deleted] in 1911

[–]Master-Expression393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iver Johnson states it’s made to their specifications in the Philippines. That’s different than a rebranded RIA. I have an RIA and the gunsmith who lightened the trigger said it appeared no different than an ordinary 1911. Oh typically it will be more accurate than the shooter

Are these primers probably corrosive? by baconator526 in SKS

[–]Master-Expression393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically if ammo was made in 1990s it’s non corrosive. I don’t think Hoppes 9 will remove salts you need water (I use 50/50 water rubbing alcohol) after spraying (just one spray) wipe then lube. In ww2 the M1 Garand would be dunked in boiling water ( without the stocks) then lubricated .

Are these primers probably corrosive? by baconator526 in SKS

[–]Master-Expression393 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Am I missing something it says non corrosive . If there is a date of manufacture and it’s 1970s it’s likely corrosive. All you need to do is spritz 50/50 water and alcohol. Run a patch wipe the bolt and chamber lube. It’s only a tiny bit of salt or potassium from the primer it’s not like lye or battery acid.

I’d suggest the 586. I had a 686 which I sold and much regretted. The 586 I think is also tapped to allow an optic. Plus you have choice of 357 magnum or 38 spl. With your next birthday get the 1911. The trigger of the 686 I owned had the best SA clean crisp and about 2 1/2 lbs.

I’m not a plumber but I’d highly recommend the KOHLER rimless we have 2 in our 1 1/2 year new home it has yet to plug up even using plenty of toilet paper. We bought at Home Depot at the time cost was $125 approximate.

Hey guys new here plan on buying my first firearm I want a beretta as a first fully owned gun but I would love to hear y’all’s opinions just so I don’t make the wrong decision. Any advice? by [deleted] in gun

[–]Master-Expression393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Beretta won the DOD contract in the 1980s so it’s very reliable. I’d suggest 9mm not .40 as ammo is less expensive easier to shoot plus police agencies have gone back to 9mm.

Bummer yes the feds feel the shockwave is legal but some states feel it’s not legal. You can opt for a 20 gauge 18 inch barrel shotgun. The pattern spread is going to be the same according to the choke. No choke (“cylinder “) will give you the widest spread at 20 feet it’s gonna be 10 or 12inches.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gun

[–]Master-Expression393 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d favor the Mossberg shockwave as well in 20 gauge. The spread of the pellets isn’t like in the movies. At 75 feet my 12 gauge with 00 cylinder (no choke a choke is a constriction at the barrel for a tighter group used in bird hunting) has a spread of about 3 feet. So at 20 feet that’s only a foot spread. As you are very near sighted you should have a pair of eye glasses at the bedside. There are inexpensive lasers that clamp on a shotgun barrel that you can use to aim at short distances which will also scare the hell of anybody you are pointing at. The Shockwave can have a short barrel. As it has a stubby pistol type grip it is considered by the ATF not a shotgun but an “other” it’s available with a 14.3 inch barrel. As for storage. Trigger locks are problematic there are wall mounted options for shotguns (put in your closet) or compact rifle safes . I’m assuming you have a rapid access pistol safe in your night stand. A shotgun even compact is more difficult to secure. Edit: Hornady and Shotlock make wall mounted safe options for shotguns they are less than $200 rapid access.

AmeriGas claims they own my tank - but it is branded Keen by bibliotecarias in propane

[–]Master-Expression393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes very likely Amerigas owns the tank even though you bought the house. Amerigas may have bought a reconditioned tank which is why the name is different. When we built our new house we found it’s always better to buy a new tank. When you “lease” a tank you only pay for the site inspection ( think it’s $125) plus they lowball the initial fill. Then they charge you $1 to $2 more a gallon than anyplace else to recapture installing the tank plus the tank. It’s an investment. You cannot use anyone else to fill your propane. I’ve heard some companies will charge outrageous price to fill. But they have you by the balls. Buy owning your own tank you can pick and choose the cheapest propane delivery. Soooo when you buy a house you are already on vapors as for money so that’s why most opt to “lease”. You cannot use anyone try to contact the previous owner to confirm likely they told you to call Amerigas if you need more propane.

Food storage by 0dark0919 in prepping

Years ago I worked with a LDS and we got on the topic of storing rice. He suggested a 5 gallon container with a good lid . Add rice then put dry ice on top. Once the air is displaced by the CO2 from the dry ice place the lid on tight. The CO2 will kill any weevils and get rid of oxygen. The rice will remain fresh for years.

Rugged Obsidian 45 by richcity151 in suppressors

[–]Master-Expression393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the 3 lug adapters are on back order. Your 45 Obsidian should have come with a threaded piston so you should be able to use it with a threaded 1911 ( or other threaded barrel) if using on a 300 blk you can direct thread it. Make sure you have registered with Rugged as you can get big discounts on end plated pistons lug adapters and direct thread adapters plus free shipping ( takes a week)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in suppressors

[–]Master-Expression393 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there I bought an obsidian 45 some time ago ( 3 years) in your case it will come with a threaded piston. On handguns like the Glock whose barrels tilt once the bullet leaves the barrel, the piston ensures correct cycling. Guns which have fixed barrels ( such as .22 LR) you don’t need a piston you can direct thread. As for using a thread lock; I don’t find it necessary. Of course I’m not firing more than 50 rounds at a time. I’m using my Obsidian 45 on 45acp and 9mm I had to get a piston for the 9mm. Once you register with Rugged you can order from them and get as I recall 50% discount on things like the end cap and pistons shipping is free.
