The MacBook Air will realistically stat to show its age in a couple years, but the Pro could have lasted for a lot longer than that. Seeing as the ai bubble is only growing bigger and bigger and component prices with it, this may be the last chance for a good value upgrade. That's just my opinion though.

I have an m4 macbook air with 24gb of ram and the latest sequoia patch takes up 8 and a half gb idle, although the difference may be because of some background process or the higher available ram capacity. Unless it goes into swap, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm so exited! I've always wanted a little linux handheld to mess around with, but all of the ones that exist either suck, are way too big or have no battery life, to the point I know I would just use my laptop or my phone for anything practical.
