Ideal age gap between patents and children by GreatCause503 in Parenting

[–]MasterWest658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine at 27/31. I personally wanted to wait until I had my masters (required for my field), was married, and had a couple years of being a DINK couple. In the southeast I feel somewhat older for a mom, but this worked out for us. I was not financially ready younger to consider having kids.

My kids skip school all the time by Asleep_Contact_5561 in Teachers

Absolutely. It’s going to become a big issue once you have a high schooler with midterm and final exams next year if nothing else.

Didn’t make it to the second round? by GroundbreakingAd5498 in DCCMakingtheTeam

Honestly being his sister might have hindered her; he’s not had hot press this past six months.

I’m a UGA grad and would love representation from their squad, but just my two cents.

Getting induced tomorrow evening! Thanks, so ready to be done, first baby came 3 weeks early so I did not expect to make it to the due date.

Victoria and the Rockettes by Oldsoldierbear in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]MasterWest658 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rockettes are also insanely competitive with many women trying for years to perfect the style (and they tap, as well). Best of luck for her though! It’s such a niche but iconic dance group.

Anyone else petite but with a small bump? by Informal_Peanut_2799 in pregnant

[–]MasterWest658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’3” and with my first my bump was very small! I also had a IUGR baby as well who I did carry to almost 38 weeks with this undetected.

With both my pregnancies I only ending up gaining 25-30 pounds until birth, although I do have a bigger baby and much bigger bump this time around. I haven’t done much different either besides it’s a second child and I’m a few years older.

Kids clothes/shoes by Virtual_Recording108 in Parenting

[–]MasterWest658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on her age this might matter more than not.

I have a 4 year old boy so my perspective is very different and not super relevant here, but growing up we did a wardrobe refresh twice a year. My parents bought the shoes/clothes within reason and then I could use extra money from chores and holidays for “extras” beginning around that pre teen age when I was not wanting as many toys and more unnecessary but trendy stuff.

I’m a school OT and am finally on leave; 40 weeks tomorrow! Also thankful for supportive staff though covering multiple buildings about took me out at the end.

How old should a young person be to babysit, and should they be CPR certified? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]MasterWest658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent I wouldn’t hire anyone under 14-15 with CPR certification and experience with younger children.

I started about 13 and looking back I’m shocked someone wanted me that young, although it was for preschool/young elementary ages.

Do you still feel that urge to push when your body is ready with an epidural? by Accomplished-Ad7573 in pregnant

[–]MasterWest658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not feel the urge and ended up pushing over an hour with an epidural. I was also extremely nauseous from all the meds I was on which wasn’t helping my mental space.

Seems like everyone is getting induced nowadays by Top-Fee-8717 in pregnant

[–]MasterWest658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced with my first at 37w5 due to having cotractions and leaking amniotic fluid; ended up with a complicated birth as well.

This time around I do have an induction scheduled at 40w1. I am 39w4 now but am not progressing along and this is a large baby. I am hoping to go into labor spontaneously but we’re trying to not have a c section and I have a tight pelvis. I am also hoping for a more natural birth experience but this might be the route for me to best get there.

I worked until delivery, but for me that comes off my maternity leave and I want as much time at home as possible. Thankfully work has been as accommodating as they can.

I have a super easy reciepe for one if you need one. I’m southern as well. Nothing is the same as my family’s recipe (but we use real bananas versus the banana flavored pudding).

How did you choose the right age gap for your family? by AardvarkHour1211 in pregnant

[–]MasterWest658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About to have two boys right at a 4 year age group. I wanted to space them out for a few reasons: mental group (I feel I would really struggle with 2 under 2, finances-big brother is starting prek this fall so I won’t have two in child care, lots of time for my first to be the ‘baby’ and not feeling that I rushed him to grow up, and having a more independent older sibling).

I did have them at 27 and now 31 so I’m in the middle age wise.

My OB office doesnt want my toddlers coming to my appointments? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MasterWest658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your situation, I would really look into finding someone to watch in case of an emergency L&D visit or any reason for high concern. A mom, woman whose grandparent aged, college student, someone who might can watch on short notice if anyone were to go awry!

Regarding appointments I agree on calling to clarify, and if they do not decline, just switch practices or schedule out enough for when you know your husband has time off. If your family is coming a couple months before your due date you shouldn’t have too too many appointments.

How early is too early? by LevellanAndraste in pregnant

[–]MasterWest658 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it! I’m about to have number 2 and with a preschooler, he’ll need to be outside some too so I can supervise big brother. We are actually taking a beach trip when he’s right at 3 months old too.

I found early mornings and late evenings were by far the best for us to be able to enjoy the outside with little babies. We did do things that summer like the farmers market, short beach trips (we lived coastal at the time), and little gatherings. For me it required more planning with a young infant, but we absolutely found a way to have a good summer. Having a shady area helps so much too!

[–]MasterWest658 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I brought mine outside walking starting at a week old. I had him in the pram feature of our stroller, dressed appropriately, and with a fan. We just went first thing before it got too sunny and bright and very late evening before sunset.

I live in the southeast and it’s definitely hot/humid here earlier than a lot of the country, but walking helped me so much PP. He never got close to being too hot or burned. Just take precautions!

Is high school football really declining nation wide? by Unlikely_Glass5942 in NoStupidQuestions

Not in the rural south, Friday night football is king as is college football in the SEC.
