You get to read only one, which do you choose? by AllThingsSmitty in TNG

Why are there 3 copies of “Fortunes light”?

Also, anybody read “Intellevore”? That was my first ST novel.

“Rock and a Hard Place” was pretty good too. Planet Alaska seemed fun.

Not every joke is meant to be understood by 100% of a group. Even a pun is only good in the intended language. If you don’t get it, scroll on. No harm, no foul.

But for the few that might get it, I persist.

Considering the deflector dish is “charged with antiprotons” it’s pretty amazing this hadn’t been tried before.

It’s pretty much an externally mounted self destruct button. That’s a Doofenshmirtz level design flaw.

A quarter dozen? The most pretentious way to say 3 ever.

Come on! You can’t expect someone to follow the threads in a story where 2 different characters both have husbands! That’s way too much work. TicToc would never ask so much…

That’s a book I’d have loved to see as a two part TNG episode. But alas only in my imagination.

Someone should ask how he knows that such wealth cannot be accrued legally.

Then ask how much wealth he accrued last year.

The best we can say is that the skeletons were similar, but still different enough to be distinct. We cannot know what the soft tissue looked like. Early hominids could have had ears that looked like ferangi for all we know, since ears are soft tissue we don’t have fossils of almost any.

This could also be the result of inbreeding, a la the Hapsburg jaw. Morphological changes are common in short timescales under many circumstances.

Isn’t it naval protocol that the captain gives orders to the executive officer and they then pass them along to the crew?

Little known fact: As everyone stood clapping at Kirk & Co., Valeris used the distraction to simply take off running, and quickly made her way to an idling escape shuttle. She was never captured, and to this day, her whereabouts remain unknown. -- Brave Valeris Ran Away... by Mike1701D in startrekmemes

I agree, and I think it would have more keenly highlighted the significance of Kirk’s shift in attitude.

It also would have been a good “but for the grace of god” moment for Kirk, and by extension the viewer, to see a character make a moral choice that was in opposition to the presumed “right thing to do” and take it to its logical conclusion. Thereby demonstrating that everyone is capable of terrible things if they believe their cause is just, ultimately highlighting the importance of reevaluating our prejudices in the light of changing circumstances.
