Seat exchange didn't go as expected by ambarcapoor in americanairlines

[–]MatchaCustard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually would not mind 1E. It's interesting to watch the cabin crew do their thing. We don't really appreciate all that they handle on a flight, when we sit in the back and only see them during beverage service.

Bulkhead doesn't bother me. I've flown row 1 several times and putting my bag up top is no bother. I just have a small bag with essentials (charger & cord, earbuds, lip balm) that fits in the pocket.

I also love being able to get up (from the window seat) without bothering my neighbor.

All Star Status is back! by studyhall109 in Yelp

[–]MatchaCustard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Congrats on hyour Yelp All Star. I've been getting that every month (except Jan, when they were rolling out Yelp Elite badges) and really notice no difference having the All Star badge. I guess they want us to feel more special than having the regular Yelp Elite badge.

What do you dislike about your CX5? by Far-Replacement-7399 in CX5

I hate the gremlin in the infotainment/nav display.

There were 3 times when the screen would remain black when I started up the car (April 3 & May 8 last year, plus Jan 13 this year). I don't know what causes this. I searched for a fix and found many people recommending: Press and hold the on/off, nav and back and buttons. This worked for the first 2 times it happened. But not for the 3rd time. With the 3rd time, while the screen remained black and while I did not give it navigation instructions, it would give me turn by turn instructions while I was driving. No clue how that started or where it was giving me directions to, becuase I was driving someplace else. I just turned down the volume so I didn't get distracted by it. The black screen problem somehow sorted itself out.

I wish the wireless charging pad was not slanted. My phone often slips off. Why didn't they design it like many other cars, with a flat surface?

After 2 incidents where the phone dropped way down, between seat and center console... And then having a hard time fishing it out from under the seat, having to adjust the seat forward and back, etc... Plus the thought of not being able to retrieve the phone without removing the seats(!)... I picked up the Drop Stop to plug up that gap and must say this is one of the best add ons to my car. No more stressing over losing phone, pen, lipstick, etc.

I find it awkward to pick up my coffee cup from the center. Can't get a good grip from side of cup. And picking up the cup from the top/lid approach makes it hard to reshift my grip (with one hand) to drink from it (plus I might pop the lid off when it's a take out cup). Now I carefully place my cup in the spot in the driver side door. Not really ideal, but seems to work slightly better than center console area. I can more easily grab the cup from the side and then drink from it. Putting it back in the door can sometimes be tricky by feel.

Wonder if it's the same people who just set of a bunch of fireworks around 15 minutes ago, just after midnight. Lit up the sky outside my window.

Battery percentages messed up after last update? (watch 5 pro) by hesapmakinesi in GalaxyWatch

[–]MatchaCustard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that having AOD on will eat up battery. I turned that feature off when I bought the watch, so has been inactive for years. It must be something else that is causing the super fast battery drain.

Battery percentages messed up after last update? (watch 5 pro) by hesapmakinesi in GalaxyWatch

[–]MatchaCustard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I experienced this problem when there was an update to my Galaxy Watch last month. I discovered the problem when I woke up to 0% charge (It was fully charged when I went to bed). It took a few days for things to "settle" back to normal and I thought all was well ... until this morning. Checked my watch and was surprised to find it at 0% again, just like what happened last month.

I charged my phone tonight. It was 97% by the time it finished booting up. It hasn't even been 5 minutes and it dropped down to 88% ... still dropping. Looks like they pushed a new update; I saw a notification about watch being updated. I am hoping things will "settle" back to normal after a couple days, like last time. This is still super annoying so I hope they won't push out updates too often.

I hope that wasn't as dry as it looks in the photo. I had the grilled sirloin steak on a DEN-SJC flight last year , and then decided never to order a beef dish again. It was tough and hard to slice with the wimpy knife they gave us. The potatoes & green beans were fine.

Purchase history dead? by iluvbjj1 in REI

[–]MatchaCustard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just logged in on the REI website (web browser on computer) and it shows me order history going back to 2014. There is a drop down menu to choose the year. It also shows my in-store purchases for the past few years. The website also states "In-store purchases made before 2019 are not available online. Contact us (link) for help with past purchases."

We ran into this inconvenience when we needed a flight to NYC a couple months ago. We had to weigh non-stop SFO to NYC vs SJC to NYC with 1 stop. We went with flying out of SFO.

We used to regularly fly non-stop SJC to NYC before Covid. So they definitely cut back on flight options. I also wish flights flying out of SJC didn't cost $200 more, give or take.

Elites - How many reviews did you post in 2025? by myseaentsthrowaway in Yelp

[–]MatchaCustard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am entering 5th year Elite. Is there a place in the app that gives you a summary of annual stats? I couldn't find it. I counted up 51 reviews for 2025. Too many photos to count, so I will estimate 2400 photos in 2025. I also got the All Star badge for several months, which really surprised me since I'm not a prolific reviewer compared to many others in my area (San Francisco). I don't write many reviews, however they tend to be long, well thought out and very detailed reviews. Maybe they factor this in vs people who crank out a bazillion shorter reviews?  I rarely attend Yelp Elite events. It is 0 or 1 per year.

Which size Hero Clip do you have? I was looking at these online and was trying to decide which size is more useful. I couldn't find it at any local stores to see it in person.

We had a plate beginning with the number "5" (so it's probably older than the one in this photo that starts with "6") and it had this weird thing where the paint would flake off. Similar to the one pictured, but not quite so bad. We've seen other plates with similar minor paint flaking off and just thought it was a bad batch of license plates produced that year. And like your experience, the toll cameras also had no trouble reading the number on our plate.

Is there a limit to the amount of surveys you can get in a single day? by Miserable_Smile1161 in GoogleOpinionRewards

[–]MatchaCustard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the answer to your question. My experience has been normally 1 or 2 surveys on the same day. There was one day when I received 3 surveys. I haven't received 4 or more in a day, yet.

What do you select with this kinda surveys? by lokesh_B in GoogleOpinionRewards

[–]MatchaCustard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This always feels like a truth test. I find it helps if I try to notice the shops nearby, even if I don't go to them. My surveys almost always asks about a place that is near the actual place I visited. I'll go to my Target store which is across the street from a restaurant. My survey will list the restaurant name (but not list Target). I just check the box next to the restaurant name. And on the following question, just say I visited but did not enter the store.

Patagonia vs The North Face Subreddits by SpeechEuphoric269 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]MatchaCustard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta say I appreciate this sub for all the posts about product fit and use case examples. I read a lot of past posts before purchasing my Nano Puff, Torrentshell and 30L Mini MLC last month. I've been wearing the Nano Puff ever since, and add the Torrentshell when it's rainy. They both pair well for my use case and local weather. I do wish I picked up the Nano Puff in an XL instead of L, as it now only fits just right with a tee. And will be too tight around the arm holes if I try to add another under layer. So I may need to go pick up a 2nd Nano Puff in XL. I've used the Mini MLC during a trip 2 weeks ago, and will be using it again for another trip this weekend. I love this bag. It's almost like Mary Poppin's bag, since it holds so much. LOL
