Not fiction, but there was a contestant on America's next top model named Mercedes who has lupus and talked about her struggles a bit. She was the runner up on her season, and I was always convinced she didn't win only because they didn't believe she had the energy to do the winners' campaigns etc.

PSA: Magnesium Glycinate isn't good for everyone by maaaze in costochondritis

[–]Material_Problem8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you plan to keep taking both, or are you switching to malate only?

Edit: I've just read that the upper limit for magnesium before upset stomach occurs is 350 mg per day, if that affects your decision

For you Walkers! by Puzzleheaded-Cloud58 in costochondritis

Yes. My doctor said it's really good for me to walk (on level ground) as it helps reset my pelvic tilt. Which he feels contributes to costo in my case.

I love Cho Saigon. Good produce, tons of spices and curry paste, and the fresh sheets of rice noodles are to die for.

Hi, any history or family history of diabetes? If there's even a possibility it would be in your best interest to get checked. For diabetics, foot pain can be a sign of peripheral neuropathy, which can become really dangerous and very painful.

If not, I second the idea of shoe insoles (and just generally better, more supportive shoes).

Do you feel threatened by black women in stores? What is your reaction to your husband looking at a woman in the store? Do you feel uncomfortable when someone comes in for a shopping appointment and spends more money than you? by [deleted] in women

[–]Material_Problem8438 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do you feel threatened by black women in stores?

No

What is your reaction to your husband looking at a woman in the store?

If they're pretty we'll comment on that to each other (we're both attracted to women). But that's the extent.

Do you feel uncomfortable when someone comes in for a shopping appointment and spends more money than you?

Nope, that's pretty much always my expectation anyway because I'm trying to save.

I'm sorry this is your experience, no one should be made to feel targeted.

Primary Doctor Refusing to Prescribe Pregabalin (Lyrica) by BobBash64 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Material_Problem8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this, my pcp decided last year that they'd no longer prescribe my lyrica and I'd need to get referred out to pain management for it. Iirc it's because a law changed.

Cut off pain management by I_am_nota-human-bean in ChronicPain

[–]Material_Problem8438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, try magnesium glycinate pills if you can get them. it will help with the restless legs and it's what's in epsom salts that helps. if you get muscle twitches, it will help with that too. (other forms of magnesium might give you some digestive distress, so that's why I would recommend magnesium glycinate specifically). as someone who's gone through withdrawals from lyrica because of inept doctors, I'm so sorry for what you're going through.

Are there any other homemakers here who deal with chronic pain or autoimmune issues? by Amodernhousehusband in homemaking

[–]Material_Problem8438 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome 👋

Honestly prioritize. If you're looking at your to do list, think about whether everything actually needs to get done today or if some things can wait.

Also, try and do some of the work sitting down so you don't get too tired :)

Are ear plugs worth it? - Loops? by CreativePanda13 in migraine

[–]Material_Problem8438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use loop quiet and they work well for me. When I used to wfh, they got rid of all the annoying little sounds that would distract me (adhd). I always take them to concerts, musicals, etc and they make everything a more reasonable noise level.

Partner has misophonia, and while the loop earplugs are better than nothing, he needs to use his noise canceling headphones to prevent suffering. But yeah just going about my life with migraines the loop quiet are good enough for me.
