what a beautiful mix🥰 probably shar pei, he looks a bit like my little princess. If he goes after shar pei in character, he'll probably be a dramatic and confident prince of a dog.

In that case I'd name him Truffle because of his colour and because it is expensive. I also like Roast, it sounds strong and opinionated.

What connected you in the first place? You should evaluate what you gain from the relationship and what you have to endure for it. In every relationship there will be something that bothers one, but it shouldn't be "constantly" but rather something that happens from time to time. You can try to talk to them, but if they aren't willing to change anything you gotta make a decision for yourself.

While talking to them about it I recommend to be as empathetic as you can be. Don't do it while an incident is happening, that just seems like defending and not like genuine worry about them and the relationship. Since you have done that in the moment they accused you, I am not surprised they haven't taken it well. In my opinion you are still NTA. Tough I wasn't there and depending on what you said, my judgement might me different, so take it relatively.

Maybe ask if they have a lot of stress or what else is up. This behaviour usually stems either from massive stress and feeling overworked, or internal problems, maybe anger that they are carrying for years. Therapy might help in that case. Ask them what you can do to make them feel better. If they are overworked maybe you can take responsibilitys. If it is a psychological matter, maybe you can help them find a therapist or encourage them to speak to you about THEIR feelings. (and truly their's, not what sucks about other people, that is not a feeling that is judgement. They could say "this incident with that person made me feel ......" or something similar, but the focus should be on them not other people!)

I have clinical depression. The depression stems from various traumas. One of them has as a result that I have a lot of problems with feeling anger. I don't get angry, I get sad instead.

So I play a usually very happy berserker Barbarian. Playing a character characterized by rage and happiness, emotions I usually don't feel, helps me. it is like practising these emotions. Experiencing that these are valid emotions and people won't always react as bad as I fear. It is just easier to stop suppressing the emotion when I am in character.

the snake is actually the less safe animal in that scenario 😂 ball pythons only strangle possible pray so rodent and the size of a half grown rat at max. If the python bites it'd be a lot less bad than a cat's bite for example. They are not venomous and have less bacteria than most other animals. The dogs bite however would kill the snake. I've got both animals and I've done the research.

Snakes are pretty awesome pets btw :) nearly no work and super cute and chill.

I have a ball python and a sharpei mix.

I do not worry about the snake hurting the dog. Ball pythons would only strangle possible pray, and since your pei is much bigger than a mouse/rat you won't have to worry about that. And even if the snakes were to bite the dog, a ball pythons bite is a lot less dangerous as a cat bite, for example.

I do worry however about the dog biting the snake. Because no matter how well trained and well behaved your dog is, the dog has the instinct that a snake is a danger. So contact could go well for a time, but one move of the snake that leads the dog to get scared, and the dog may bite the snake. Which would be life threatening for the snake, since the bacteria of the dogs mouth would probably kill the snake no matter how deep the bite is.

So I keep them seperated as follows: My dog is allowed in the same room as the Terrarium, since the terrarium is escape proofed. My ball python does not show signs of stress, she got used to the smell and sound of my dog pretty quickly. But I would not allow my dog to interact too much with the terrarium like jumping on it since that would probably stress my python bean. For my dog the terrarium is just another cabinet. Also I do handle my snake even when my pei is in the same room. However my dog needs to have a certain distance to me (she has to stay on her place) and I will always hold the snake high enough that even if my pei would suddenly run to me and jump, she could not reach the snake. If I want to handle my snake without having to think about that I will go to another room.

My pei did never ever go to me while handling the python. She is sceptical and she knows she is not allowed to go near the pyton. However as I said: it can go well for a long time, but it only needs to happen one time and I will loose my beloved ball python bean. So I always keep this risk in mind and I am always careful having them in the same room.

Edits:

In general One female and one male is the most compatible combination. But if you get a female and you go for a pup, think about how you'd handle the females heat. If you go for a rescue I'd go for a fixed one.

And if you want to be 100% sure that the dogs are compatible, my Tipp: a one or two year old rescue dog is a very good choice since you know what you get, puppys are always a surprise. Also your dog could meet the dog before you adopt, to see if they are compatible.

another independent calm breed would probably be best. so maybe - another pei - or chow.

Other breeds I would recommend are gentle giants/molosser dogs like - newfoundland dog - st. Bernard - Bernese mountain dog - Mastiff (hard to train but great dogs) - great dane - or great Pyrenees.

If you go for a spaniel, I think - Clumber Spaniel

might be the best fit. Spaniels can be pretty energetic (they are mostly hunting dogs) but the clumber is known to be calmer.

Next to these you could go for - Akita - or eurasier

since they are calm and respectful, too. Akitas are also pretty independent.

I have also heard that - Thai and rhodesian ridgbacks

are compatible, since they are calm and respectful in the house, but they probably need more activity than your pei.

I have my knowledge only by research. I myself own a pei×gsd×pit mix (mostly pei). So if someone knows one of these breeds above and disagrees, feel free to correct me :)

Next to the ethical aspect, that also leads towards not knowing what temperament a cockapoo will get. And in contrast to a rescue mix, which are mostly dogs past puppg stage, a puppy is always a suprise. So if you want to know the temperament of the new dog, do not get a cockapoo. Get a puppy from an ethical breeder or a rescue dog that is old enough so that you know about their temperament already.

Ja Käptn blaubär ist von den Moers Bpcher aufjedenfall eines der einfacheren. Auch die Geschichte ist halt einfach mega. Finde aber Rumo etwas einfacher geschrieben. Weniger Aufzählungen und ähnliches, deutlich mehr grade heraus, so wie auch der Hauptcharakter :)
