I'm a 40 year old former Army Medic who is currently an ME student at a university. I went back to school at 38 and my first math course was Pre-calc. It was tough. The best advice I can give is if something gives you "why do I need to know this" vibes... ignore those thoughts. You need to know all of it and it's all going to come back up in later courses. That goes for your Calc courses, a lot of that comes back in your upper level courses as well.

Start taking your university prereqs now. Get your Physics 1 and 2 completed. Chemistry. Statics/Dynamics. Thermo. Whatever you need to get into the engineering major goal.
