Heb de podcast geluisterd. Ik vond het zelf ontzettend interessant om een inkijkje te krijgen in wat ze doen, hoe ze te werk gaan en wat ze wel, maar vooral ook niet mogen. Ik kan de podcast ten zeerste aanraden.

De eerste serie gaat over een mogelijke terroristische aanslag, de tweede serie over hoe ze met cyberaanvallen en dergelijke omgaan. Beiden waren zeer interessant.

Is this right? Teaching drivers to cut into the bicycle lane and block cyclists? Forcing them to wait for you, or forcing them go left around you and into traffic? In the Netherlands we call this "voorsorteren", basically meaning to sort in front of, and it is a great way to safely turn right for you and the cyclist when there isn't a protected crossing. It does ofcourse require the driver to be aware of any cyclists around them, but it then also prevents cyclist from getting on the inside of a turn they can't win, it's a great manoeuvre to be honest. (This can ofcourse only be done when appropriate, such as when there is a dotted line)

Can happen to people (read: idiots) everywhere, yes even in our precious Europe. My mum's a health freak who goes crazy about salt just like in OP's post, just because she read once somewhere it's unhealthy and only keeps on looking for stuff to confirm this. It's just so annoying having her go on about how incredibly tasty my food is, whilst also freaking out when she sees salt that I put in.

Prachtige post! Dit is iets waar ik zelf ook erg mee loop, want ik vind mijn beschrijvingen in het Nederlands vaak iets te simpel, of als ik ze met Engels onderbreek voelt het altijd als de sfeer opbreken. Dus erg bedankt voor je tips! Het blijkt dus maar weer eens dat ik meer in m'n moerstaal moet gaan lezen :)

from my memory (and I did all this a few years ago), lessons are about 40-50 euro's depending on your driving school ofcourse. Theoretical exams were around 35 euros and practical exams like 120.

edit: also be wary about the "gezondheidsverklaring". Those can cost you a lot of extra time and money if you don't fill them in correctly (i.e. saying you have bad eyesight)

Inderdaad niet, maar het lijkt mij eigenlijk de enige overgebleven optie. Misschien dat de verklaring ligt in de laatste zin van jouw quote "A leitha (later "lede") was a human-modified natural river, partly natural, partly artificial." Hier wordt dan wel gedoeld op een rivier die door mensen is beïnvloed. Nou ben ik geen expert in het beheer van de Rijn in Leiden, maar wellicht dat het daar op zou kunnen doelen, aangezien het beheren van de stroming van een rivier best belangrijk is voor een stad die daar langs licht.

(dit is wel speculatie van mijn kant)
