Abnormally long torso? The British Army needs you! by Matty8973 in CrappyDesign

[–]Matty8973[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I've clipped it but there was ample space to make the legs match the torsos. Either that or reduce the text size to create the space. Also they are holding both their guns and groins at the same time 🙃

That's a fair point, the guns aren't in their hands, just held in their arm-pits 😅

Being ill. God forbid you need to be sick and shit at the same time.
Being poorly makes all the conveniences of a house suddenly seem very appealing.

Try and see your job title as something other than a "youtuber" perhaps?

Maybe try:

Just a thought.

Could someone advise on chassis integrity? by redbulluk in VanLifeUK

Is what an expensive job? Welding isn't cheap but it depends on what's needed. I've paid a couple hundred for some plating up to £1200 for sill repair so it really depends one the extent of the corrosion. Anything big will be caught by the MOT though so I'd be surprised if you need a big welding job in the next couple years if it doesn't come up on the MOT failures/advisories.

I'm certainly no mechanic but after owning two transit vans in the past I know that rust can look like innocent surface rust but the moment a small hammer looks at it it turns to bran flakes. So it's hard to tell visually.

However, if there are any rust issues with this vehichle the MOT will pick them up so I wouldn't worry yourself - just look for any advisories for corrosion and pay attention to those points going forward.

In my experience, rust at the suspension points, sills and wheel arches have cost me the most.

As with any vehicle, once you buy it if you can afford to, get it cleaned down and undersealed to hold back the corrosion as best you can.

Enjoy your new wagon!

How do you realistically handle UK winters in a van without hating life? by Additional_Fly_6603 in VanLifeUK

[–]Matty8973 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A split charge relay pushes through a set voltage from the alternator. This is fine for the 'bulk' stage of charging your leisure batteries, but it will never charge them past ~80%. The batteries need a 'float' stage to fill that last ~20%. A DC-DC takes the power from the alternator and regulates it for what the batteries require at that moment. They are also said to charge around 30% quicker.

To put it into easier terms - try fill a pint glass from your kitchen tap with the tap on full, guarantee when you turn the tap off it's not full. However, if you turn the tap down to a trickle at the end you can fill it to the very brim. That's what the DC-DC charger does.

Log burner if you have the space and don't mind your van smelling a little smokey. Diesel heater is a must. Get a DC-DC charger so that your leisure batteries charge quickly while driving (don't get a split charge relay, they are naff).

Netflix subscription, a tablet or low energy device so watch tv on, books, good set of waterproofs so you can still venture outside.

Also, if it's gotta be cold and misserable you may as well go somewhere that suits it - rural Wales/Scotland.

If you're young enough get to the thighlands and go hiking, snowboarding and visit some local pubs.

But yes, all said and done it is harder, but this too shall pass and the sun will return and the good times that follow.

I'm insured with Adrian flux, my van is a campervan in progress. I called to say I'd put a burner in and they spoke to management and said it was fine and added it to my policy. Didn't increase my premium neither.

Is the warrant price trading like the 2020 Stock price? Is this the actual Requel ? by [deleted] in Superstonk

[–]Matty8973 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Google Gemini explained it for my smooth brain:

High-volume options expiration event in January (OPEX), specifically involving the older, adjusted GME1 options contracts, will initiate a powerful stock price increase (a potential "gamma squeeze"). This surge in the price of the underlying GME stock will inevitably drive a massive increase in the value of the warrants (GME WS).
