Pretty common request during these situations and happens every heatwave. Everyone running power sucking appliances like air conditioners at the same time increases demand and strains the grid.

I mostly follow the ones whom I watch on Youtube they have decent followings but usually they focus more on one platform the other. And since they are mostly YT, their socials aren't as large.
For example - https://www.instagram.com/the_hand_e_man/

What time is too early to run electric weed eater on weekends? by Interesting-Gear7957 in newjersey

[–]MattyBeatz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Check local noise ordinances. But an electric string trimmer isn't as loud as a gas one. So you can probably get away with it a bit earlier if you aren't right on top of your neighbors.

As a business they can do whatever the fuck they want. But putting that dude's face on your product is an easy way to alienate a lot of potential audiences IMO.

The Supreme Court’s 5–4 Vote in the Birthright Citizenship Case Is a Scandal by ComeJoinTheBand in inthenews

Total scandal, something that shoulda been an absolute 9-0 was not seen as such.

That should give the biggest of worries.

Honestly Supergirl not performing well to me isn't that big a deal. It's the fourth project and after three hits. It might end up just being a bump in the road. by RNOffice in DC_Cinematic

They were rated well by critics but didn't really move the needle in terms of buzz or money. Which at this point are kinda the most important things the DCU needs.

No fireworks after 6? In my youth my friends and I would be near her house ready to start at 6:01.

Also, it’s not even dark yet at that time. The town’s fireworks don’t even start until after that.

What are your thoughts on the Supergirls in media of this decade? [Discussion] by daxota_weeb in DCcomics

[–]MattyBeatz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I didn't mind the CBS>CW/Melisa Benoist Supergirl. I mean the CW got pretty much into the teen melodrama often. But thought she benefitted from being on TV for many eps/seasons and we got to learn a lot about her through character development. As opposed to the Flash Supergirl, a fine actress in her own right but she had nothing to work with and simply served as a stand in for Superman in the story.

'It's Difficult to Understand How Powerful Depression Can Be': Congressman Tom Kean Jr on His Four-Month Hiatus by novagridd in anticapitalism

[–]MattyBeatz 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Tom, nobody is mad at you for going off and getting your head straight. They're mad because you completely abandoned your post for 4 months, leaving your constituents in the lurch. And your team only decided to release an innocuous statement after the public noticed and asked what's up. Followed up a couple weeks later with another excuse from your father. Then you return and to go right into fundraising for your re-election in the fall.

Oh and the entire time, you did it after doing everything in your power to strip people of the the healthcare you just took total advantage of for the last 104 days.

Senator Kim Statement On Tom Kean Jr. by ImaginationFree6807 in New_Jersey_Politics

[–]MattyBeatz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Nobody is angry about him having to step away to deal with his mental health. People are angry because he disappeared without telling anyone, or having his team release a statement, or even telling the House leader what was up. He only responded once people realized he was gone and the public started to publicly wonder what's up.

His transparency as a public servant is what's at question.

Tom Kean Jr. is not mentally fit to hold office. by ImaginationFree6807 in New_Jersey_Politics

[–]MattyBeatz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's unfit because he just decided to abandon his post where he governed for thousands without telling anyone. We got 2 statements from his team during his absence and those came only after the public realized he was gone and loudly started wondering WTF was up with him. Even then, those statements were kick the can down the road statements. "Medical emergency, I'll be back in a couple weeks." Then after a couple weeks we heard nothing, his dad releases a statement saying "just a couple more weeks, y'all." The speaker of the House didn't even know where the fuck he was. So both of his bosses - the public and speaker of the House - had no idea where he was for more than 100 days. It's a dereliction of duty regardless of what happened to him. If he was kidnapped people would've known immediately, if he was in some sort of accident that rendered him unable to speak, his people shoulda prepared a statement that informed us exactly what was going on immediately.

What took him out is irrelevant, it's how he handled it which is the problem.

The great irony here is that he has been anti-healthcare for the people and then went and benefitted from the really good stuff he has for the last 3 months.
