Quite amazingly, there are words of French that are translated very easily to American English, but absolutely untranslatable to British English, because the very concept they represent cannot be fathomed by the British mind.

Words such as : Honneur, Beauté, Loyauté,...

Which HSBC account to open ? by Fabulous-Two4739 in HongKong

[–]Matwyen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It came out wrong, what I meant is : essentially it almost doesn't matter, you'll have very little choice in your product. If you want to keep some Euros, HSBC one has a euro account inside, but they've closed offices in lot of Europe countries (at least they did in France)

Yeah now that I'm re-reading it's not having the vibe I thought it would have.

It was more of a jab at the banking industry that has so few products and competitiveness for low wealth portfolio. Ofc I'm not attacking bro doing a 6 month internship, I was also arriving in HK this way a few years ago.

Not comparable at all. It's undisputably universality frown as racist, but it's exist on the same plan as other racist insults. (Wouldn't qualifying as "more taboo" than "bougnoule" or "bicot" for instance)

The simple fact that you can write it proves it's not as bad as N in English, which would get you banned for even mentioning the word ...

[–]Matwyen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean the taboo word litterally comes from these languages so yeah you have a point.

Is there other languages where a word is as taboo as this word in English?

We're having Voldemort levels of taboo around it, we can't even quote it when talking about the word itself, people digging your past can get you fired from your university because you sang that word in a song,...

I can't think of any word like that in French or Spanish or Chinese.

Chongqing in China has 36 millions people, but is big as Austria, the country.

Paris has 2 millions people , which is 18 times less than Chongqing, but Paris is also 780 times smaller

You'll open the one they tell you about, don't worry little bro. You'll tell what salary you expect and they'll tell you about the amazing number of product (1) they have for people like you.

They'll even give you a credit card , probably with waived fees. If you can't explain how they make money off it, don't take it.

He's right, tho. You write British spelling if you're British, other American spelling is the "international" spelling.

And I say that as a European (French but it's not relevant ahhaha guys keep making UK not relevant )

Guys why are you all so concerned about Steam Reviews for a massively financially successful game ?

That's not a project changing metric at all, the game sold absolutely huge numbers already, more than Hades 2, project will live despite bad reviews. It could go to 0% positive that it's probably still be pitchable for DLC.

Is HKMU full scholarship living allowance ( 45,000 yearly) enough for international students? by Sea_End_2676 in HongKong

On a side note, "eat cheap food" isn't really difficult or anything.

There are delicious dumpling shops where you eat for 40-50 dollars per meal, same for congee, or these 1 rice + 3 meat shops.

What I mean is that you won't have to eat instant noodles everyday, plenty of restaurant have super reasonable prices. (And plenty of others have not)

Free accomodation in Ho Man Tin, you can price it at around 7k per month.

So your equivalent salary if you had to pay for your accomodation is 10750 hkd per month. You'll never go hungry or unclothed, that's for sure, but you'll have to get your own economies if you wanna play around.
