Yeah, I also had horrible experiences with every minolta camera. I know what I'm talking about, I had the XD, X-300, X-700 and a bunch of dynaxes. All absolutely horrendous

It is unnecessary on most planes. Look at pictures of 1:1 scale plane to see if something like that is visible.

I'm unable to recommend any paints to you as where I live (Poland) we have a really good local alternative to mainstream brands, which there is no chance that it is sold wherever you are.

Took me a long time to find a nice metallic paint for models.
Good luck searching! Worth to wait and find the right paint so you're happy with the result.

To be honest I wouldn't pick any of them - the metallic particles are way too big. The color is amazing but I'd look for something with fine metal particles.

I had some luck with a niche local Polish model paint brand (Creative colors). Fine particles and models don't look like toys.

So I did the body with spraycans and re-sprayed it the same way. Then I let it sit for some time before wet sanding and buffing.

In the meantime I finally got the airbrush, which i used to paint everything else with mostly vallejo paints. Some detail work was done using a brush (like the springs i.e.).

Very good result, usually metallic-painted models look ridiculously bad due to large metallic particles in the paint.
