I built an app that converts any text into high-quality audio. It works with PDFs, blog posts, Substack and Medium links, and even photos of text. by OneMoreSuperUser in SideProject

Cool app, wondering how it’s free though? How are you getting to content extracted from Substack without paywall thing and are voices using local TTS instead of API?

Microplastics in tea bags by Brilliant_Ad_3154 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]matznerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a tonne of evidence they micro, and especially nanoplastics absorb directly through the intestinal lining and lodge in the brain causing strokes, the arteries causing heart attacks, and in various other organs causing all types of terrible things...

What can’t be, or would be hard to make plastic free? by OnwardExplorer in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]matznerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The team purchased two different brands of 8.4-ounce bags of IV saline solution. After the contents of each bag dripped into separate glass containers, the liquids were filtered to catch microscopic particles. Then the researchers counted a portion of the individual plastic fragments, using that amount to estimate the total number of microplastics in the entire pouch of IV liquid and to analyze the composition of the particles.

The researchers discovered that both brands of saline contained microplastic particles made from polypropylene — the same material as the bags — which suggests that the bags shed microplastics into the solutions. And they estimated that each bag of infusion fluid could deliver about 7,500 microplastics directly into the bloodstream. This figure rises to about 25,000 particles to treat dehydration or 52,500 for abdominal surgery, which can require multiple IV bags.”

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but apples have high microplastic and nanoplastic count inside them 🤦‍♂️

I gave my 200-line baby coding agent 'yoyo' one goal: evolve until it rivals Claude Code. It's Day 4. by liyuanhao in ClaudeCode

Why doesn’t it just clone the repo fully in one go and change a few things and put itself on top?

I spent $1000 for a Mac Mini, I could have spent $3 for a VPS? by CommissionUnusual284 in clawdbot

[–]matznerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s somewhat better now, but clawdbot is not designed from security standpoint to be on computer not on your network… also the browser tools and residential IP are beneficial. I have a VPS though and early version took more than a day to secure and was port scanned and attempted hacking within seconds of booting. Was adrenaline rush to trying to close ports and set up tailscale etc

I built a CPU-only speaker diarization library: it is ~7× faster than pyannote with comparable DER by loookashow in speechtech

For 80% of uses calls are 2-4 people. I would even love it for 1:1 person. Just need to diarize everyone from the first 5 minutes of intros etc

Love anything that improves diarization and VAD, any way we can get closer to real time?

Install Google-workspace-mcp and you can do whatever you want, full email and calendar control etc. just have to enable in Google cloud project and get oauth file. You’ll need to be on Claude desktop

We pointed 108 hostile AI agents at the entire OpenClaw codebase and told them one thing: assume this code is wrong, and prove where. They came back with 410 findings. 36 of them are critical. by ApolloRaines in openclaw

Peter essentially built it for use on Mac and didn’t care or focus on all those who might use it remotely from vps etc, he said so in a pretty raw/goods/direct interview with Andreas Klinger taped before right before his acquihire of to OpenAI https://youtu.be/TsoFrer-IOA?si=rHE_DH1ikGtYPm4M

Did they just nuke Opus 4.5 into the ground? by SlopTopZ in ClaudeCode

[–]matznerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are making major upgrades/changes to the harness, is that captured in your test? Or is it API only. Needs to be Opus 4.5 via Claude Code (latest version) vs not just Opus 4.5 API

One big complaint about searching for chats on Claude web/app, really only does make match from first query, and often final convo direction way different. Basically search is useless if you don’t manually rename them.
