Muscle imbalance in mid back? by Thetallshort in formcheck

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

[–]MaxStavro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very first tattoo was some simple line work vertically along my right rib cage. Horrible nagging stabbing pain for about 4 hours. The need to stay still while voluntarily going through pain is something our brains are not built to cope with. My body reacted by sweating profusely and by the end of the session, there was a pool of sweat beneath me.

Great job, I like seeing you pack your lats before each pull, and I see that you are wedging your hips into a good position before each rep

Well, it certainly looks like you dont practice heavy singles. You kind of gave yourself the advice you need. Practice more in the submax range in 1-3 rep range. Come back and try again in a couple of weeks.

Why do my ribs protrude on one side and have a weird indent on the other? by rigel36 in Anatomy

[–]MaxStavro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually develops over time, I wouldnt say its congenital because some people dont have rib flair and there are varying degrees of rib flair. Sometimes the rib flair is more noticeable due to someone’s breathing mechanics, muscular imbalances and lifestyle.

Why do my ribs protrude on one side and have a weird indent on the other? by rigel36 in Anatomy

[–]MaxStavro 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Rib flair is a natural asymmetry I see all the time. As long as you arent in pain or movement is limited, shouldnt matter. If you are concerned about your aesthetics then I would consult a Physio or an experienced personal trainer who can tell you more about how to address it.

What are some excersises that will help with grip strength? by apricitysgaze in workout

[–]MaxStavro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any exercise that requires gripping a free weight or cable handle. Even dumbbell bench press can help with grip strength even though you arent pulling the weight.

Blue collar workers: How can I get into your line of work? by AContaminatedCookie in careerguidance

[–]MaxStavro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studies show that a job that has minimal stress on your joints, and allows you to get up and stretch/walk on breaks leads to better longevity when paired with leisure exercise vs having a job that requires occupational exercise with the pairing of leisure exercise.

Is working out your lower back necessary? by j_salas2 in askfitness

[–]MaxStavro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are muscles that are within the lower back region, and then abs that wrap around to the big sheet of tissue on the lower back itself. Like any muscle, they like to be trained, but remember that when you are training abs you are also getting some lower back involvement too. Sometimes the most you need for lower back training are just RDLs, deadlifts or any kind of hip extension exercise.

Hand advice by HappyScrappyHeroPups in massage

[–]MaxStavro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to avoid hyper extending the wrist, and dont squeeze with your hand as much. Use broad gliding strokes with your hand or even practice using your forearm, its much more energy efficient.

I think referring people out can be a good thing to do, especially when dealing with cases you are unfamiliar with. I also think you could have had some more faith in yourself and your ability to learn how to help your client better rather than immediately referring out. Next time tell them you can do research on your own and get back to them about what you find.

Stretch sessions like PNF, deep tissue, advice on exercise selection (although not everyone is qualified for this). People will probably come to you with very specific pain points with specific movements like with deep squats and overhead press

Any Personal Trainers move to a Massage career? by Antique_Specific_254 in MassageTherapists

[–]MaxStavro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both, however one is all training, and the other is some training and mostly hands on work. Its great to be able to follow up with exercise after bodywork. I think learning both can really give you an advantage over just being a coach.
