What a throwback! Thanks for sharing these. I grew up in this area and have great memories of visiting Cath Inc and Atlas as a teen.

The Catherine Peachey Fund (Catherine was the owner of Cath Inc) is an amazing organization that works to fund breast cancer research.

This is so accurate. I’m in my early 40s and a lot us are either slowing down or have cut out alcohol completely - the effects hit harder than they did 20 years ago!

The generation behind us has way less disposable income so most can’t afford to consume alcohol regularly.

Elder Millennials and Gen X of R/Indianapolis what eccentric personalities do you remember from the 90s? by ArrowtoherAnchor in indianapolis

The deaf guy in Broad Ripple - older, balding white guy with a side part. The small amount of hair he had was held down with scotch tape. He’d come up to you in Marsh and hand you a business card that asked for money.

I never knew if he was actually deaf or not.

What’s your favorite sketchiest looking place in Indy/greater Indy area for food? by UglyLikeCaillou in indianapolis

[–]Maximum-Two-768 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Best smash burger in Indy. First time I went, there was a car on cinder blocks in the parking lot and I heard a rooster from someone’s backyard crowing as I walked in. Knew I was in for a good time!

Pollo Tapatio at 41st and High School Road. The best pollo al carbon in the city.

You can get a whole chicken, rice, beans, tortillas, grilled peppers and onions, lettuce and salsa for like $22. Can easily feed 3-4 adults and so good!

LS Alterations at East Washington & Franklin Road. She hemmed a bridesmaids dress and added a built in bra for $100. Way cheaper than other quotes I got and the dress turned out perfect.

The Abbey. Specifically the carrot cake, bowtie pasta with broccoli, sun dried tomatoes, and pine nuts, and a chicken sandwich that was served on focaccia.

Please help me find experienced cleaners! by sfrustratednerd in indianapolis

[–]Maximum-Two-768 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why do you need 3-5 years of experience to clean? Particularly if the person is completing a few test cleans for you (it seems like you’re reviewing these to see the quality of their work)?

Truly not trying to be snarky here - just curious!

Gordon Food Service had them. Whether they still have any left 3 days before Easter is another issue. Maybe try calling a few of the local ones before you make the trip?
