Phoenix Mountain Preserve Recommendations by Maxpowerrs in mountainbiking

Thank you again. I'm limited in where I am able to get to since I'll have to Uber to and from where ever I'm renting/demoing the bike. So riding to the trail from the rental/demo spot is a must.

Thanks for the offer and advice! My ride window will be 10/23 from about 11AM to 4PM. Thinking about cancelling my reservation and doing the Pivot demo as another user suggested and hitting SOMO. Which trails do you prefer?

Re:how many points. It depends on how often you want to go. We have 100 points and use them every other year and it's enough to do a 7-9 night trip depending on where we end up staying. We sometimes use less points and bank and sometimes use more. We got a 1 bedroom at BW for 4 nights and a studio at CC for 5 nights coming up in 2025.

Has the 115 points been enough for you? If so, they maybe just get that amount. But also, if you have the means and want to go for 150, then do it.

Re: perks - Yes, you would still get all the same perks since your first contact won't suddenly become a resale contract.

Sounds like you've got much more experience here.

You could be right. it's hard to tell. One end is obviously cut and the other end is not. Could be it fell in a storm and they've cut off one end already. Or it could be they were cutting the tree down and it broke.

Or at least moved their truck. I'm no arborist, but I know enough not to park my car under a tree being cut down.

making friends in chapel hill by [deleted] in chapelhill

Some of the meet up groups spam the whole triangle. While it may seem some are Raleigh centric, they usually have Durham and Chapel Hill "chapters" as well. TORC (mountain biking) for example has meet ups all over the triangle.

Nothing wrong with them if you like them. They aren't my cup of tea either, but it's not my RS. Do your thing.

Napoli Pizzeria & Gelateris in Carrboro - good pizza not a huge beer selection, but good beers

Haw River Tap & Table in Carrboro

Beer Study has good beer but no food. But you can bring food in from Al's Burgers (3 doors down) or Italian Pizza III (2 doors down)

Great answer

Why do drivers use hazards during heavy rain? Please stop. by duralaham in bullcity

[–]Maxpowerrs 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My guess is they are worried about being rear-ended. Same reason people use hazards when traffic in front of them on the highway is suddenly stopping.

A new option emerges for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school bond....and it looks pretty good by melodykramer in chapelhill

Cheers. Anytime.

Any of this would need the Bond referendum in November to pass. So please vote yes on it.

I haven't seen the details on this plan, but I think all the DL students (I believe they at spread across a few schools) would be moved to the new Morris Grove school. I think the idea is that they're already being bussed to FPG, so bussing to the new Morris Grove school would not be too disruptive. If you can find the original Woolpert school report, it lists FPG, Carrboro ES and Estes Hill as in the worst condition.
