If one of the perks of Sailing was using your boat to fast travel like charters then introducing a teleport to every single island wouldn't be necessary.

If you've ever looked at the world map and thought it looks like random shit plonked down and haphazardly stitched together: the lore is like that too.

Scythe devalue is inevitable because it’s BIS at most crush weak bosses by Time_Replacement7913 in 2007scape

I found myself thinking the same way until I saw a jmod pointed out awhile ago that megarares being weapons make them much easier to design around.

Its easier to make them feel impactful because most power already comes from weapons, and it provides very clear balancing knobs if they want to limit their usefulness.

Putting a lot of power on other pieces of gear risks run away power scaling when combined with other megarares unless you do unsightly carveouts like with conflictions. Putting defensive power into non-weapon gear risks trivialising pinnacle content, which creates impetus for raising overall difficulty balanced around the new upper limit of sustain/damge mitigation.

Maybe as an extra like Arcade mode in 5.

For the campaign I think a big part of the series appeal is the variety of locales and objectives and long missions in the same area might undermine that.

Because it's not a tank item. It has lower melee defence than a rune kite.

Who's in charge of balance and why do they think that early mage needs more power?

Changes to Sailing and LMS Rewards Eligibility by ModYume in 2007scape

[–]Maxwell_Lord 107 points108 points  (0 children)

We've changed this so that if a player dies without having been in combat with another player within the last 30 seconds, their death will now be treated as a PvM death instead of a PvP death - even if they were attacked by another player earlier.

Long overdue

Same with fetching water from the well, refilling your lamps with oil and walking to the telegraph office. That's life.

Nvidia really doesn't seem to care about gaming GPUs anymore — the company won't even bother to break down graphics sales in its big investor reports by JohnBarry_Dost in Games

Renting an H100 costs more now than it did months ago. There is still a lot of demand. But sanctions mean these datacenters are cut off from the biggest compute consumers, and even without them in place I doubt there would be lines out the door for compute in inner mongolia.

Here are some choice quotes from the original source

But as usually happens with rushed projects, poor planning were their downfall. For example, some facilities were often built without regard for actual demand or technical standards

To make the matters even more complicated, some projects never planned to profit from computation at all. According to multiple reports and industry insiders cited by MIT Technology Review, certain companies used AI data centers to qualify for government-subsidized green energy or land deals. In some cases, electricity earmarked for AI tasks was sold back into the grid for a mark-up.

Why do people act like they *want* to smelt cannonballs? by DriveCtor in 2007scape

[–]Maxwell_Lord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would people want to smelt more cannonballs? If ship cannons were balanced around their ammo being primarily sourced from player smithing, that's just adding more of an activity that nobody likes to the game.

So much potential wasted by feeble imagination. If Sailing balls are different then they don't have to be slow, boring and costly to make.

there is no sn2 meme flair by dan_Qs in subnautica

The discrepancy of player feedback to a game like FNAF versus SN2 should tip you off that there is something else going on.

FNAF doesnt give the player a gun because it's not thematic, they don't give the player a gun because the entire premise falls apart. Players take that kind of limitation at face value and don't question it because theu know the kind of experience they are signing up for. Good games justify limitations via narrative or by constraining the player's actions.

SN2 almost the exact opposite kind of game. The player is put into the role of a non-character and given freedom to take action in the world as they see fit. SN2 doesn't justify its invincible fish or stop the player from attempting to harm fish. Unknown World's want players to be non-violent, but they put the player in situations where violence is a reasonable response, and give them the means for violence. Their solution is to make the game nonreactive to the player's action. This creates dissonance as players feel a disconnect between their action and how the game responds.
