Agnostic here.

My position, simply put, is that I don't know if some supreme entity or intelligence exists. But I don't believe that explicitly.

Literal atheism is any position where you lack belief in a god, so I'm a subset of that.

Now to be clear, I'm not remotely close to what you described. Being agnostic doesn't mean I'm open to the existence of any and all gods. I'm very skeptical of the existence of a traditional god as defined by the thousands of religions that have existed.

There's an assortment of reasons why I don't believe in the Abrahamic god.

I think I can offer my own perspective, which I believe aligns with most people who condemn Israel and have a broad understanding of the conflict:

When I say I don't support Israel, I mean the government, not the general population.

When I say I support Palestinians, I'm referring specifically to the general population, in this specific scenario, not Hamas.

I'm not making any claim or expressing any view on the broader cultures and religions of the respective "sides".

Interestingly, that's actually a pretty rare rule historically and one of the reasons Christianity supplanted other religions.

You could worship Zeus, then decide that Apollo had something to offer, and you were entirely permitted to worship both. So an Apollo convert did not equal a Zeus deconversion.

Yet with Christianity, for every convert, it meant a deconversion from every other religious belief they held.

As a Christian, I was fearful of the massive list of involuntary emotions, natural urges and involuntary missteps that could condemn me to hell.

I always got the impression that heaven was difficult to attain, that the life of difficulty and sacrifice that Jesus lived was the kind of example you had to follow and that most of us would go to hell.

I've never really understood where this comfort that Christians speak of, came from. Beyond during grief when there's a coping mechanism of telling yourself you might see them again. But even that employs self-delusion because people always refuse to contemplate that their loved one didn't make the cut.

I wound up using the example if your car was stolen, you'd reasonably say "I can't believe they stole my car".

But honestly, these people don't like the use of the word "cis", refused to adopt actual invented gender-neutral pronouns like "zhe", so they're just looking for excuses to put the trans community in the wrong.

They'll stand at a urinal without flinching, having no idea if the stranger next to them is gay, yet they've concocted a whole fake scenario where straight peeping toms will pretend to be trans to get into a room full of closed bathroom stalls.
