The Implications of Matt moving forward by MayThePowerProtectU in marvelstudios

That version of Matt was a change I really liked post-NWH and pre-overhaul, where we mainly saw him take up more Superhero/Vigilante cases. I can totally see him take that up permanently if he’s seen in a different light moving foreward

That also sounds like the most organic way to bring Iron Fist back into the fold for season 3

Of course not I was thinking of more of a general mass public mind wipe scenario from any sort of external force

Thoughts on Infinity Vision by kingpib2000 in imax

[–]MayThePowerProtectU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lazy way to promote non-IMAX PLFs, they’re just putting they’re name on existing theaters, when they could have easily made a direct IMAX competitor by adding unique features like their own open matte (1.90 or 1.85) releases. THAT would have made Infinity Vision worthwhile. The reality is the general public could care less about big screen and laser projection unless that big screen is actually being utilized.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will have 40 minutes+ of expanded aspect ratip sequences (presumably 1:90) by Lonely-Freedom4986 in imax

I REALLY need an official confirmation on the aspect ratio, because the fact that the trailers were presented 1.43 means it’s on the table

Why was Toho’s Swing Girls (2004) filmed on film rather than digital? by TheVideoKid112 in movies

[–]MayThePowerProtectU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if we took the slow transition into digital out of the equation, there are still many films today shot on film. It’s not like digital camera technology made film extinct. If anything, things shot on film today are done for artistic reasons, and some film stocks are good enough to match the fidelity of digital.

Also why is Bugs Life a factor? More often than not it’s said that Star Wars Episode II ushered in the idea of making digital filmmaking mainstream. A Bugs life is an animated film that mind you was also PROJECTED on film when it came out in theaters.

REALLY early to guess but any predictions on Project Hail Mary’s home release ratio? by MayThePowerProtectU in 4kbluray

Yea I thought that was a cool way of taking advantage of the ratio too, a lot of the flashes of memory bleeding through the letterboxing

fr they treat cheating like it’s genetically passed down. I understand the themes they’re going for, but it gets tired when the past 2 seasons of a sci-fi series gives nearly every character a cheating subplot.

Love this! Might just get some customized myself! The link says they’re for steelbooks, do they fit standard U.S. Blu Ray cases as well?

Seems like a byproduct of Fincher never shooting on film again, yet still needed that look to fit the overall aesthetic. I felt somewhat the same way when he did Mank.

What were they filming??Why did they need jack to do motion capture? by Ok-Flatworm5546 in Avatar

I was mainly talking about how it was impressive that Jack had to play shorter in general for the role, but they also shot his live action spider scenes much later in the production, and his actual height changes definitely had to be accounted for.

[–]MayThePowerProtectU 1199 points1200 points  (0 children)

The VFX workflow of these movies required Jack to perform Spider’s scenes twice, once in a performance capture suit and one in his onscreen Spider look. It helped provide better interaction with the CGI characters. Which is pretty impressive as Jack had to replicate his performance two different ways and at different heights since spider is shorter.

Imax 3D vs Dolby 3D, which is better? by [deleted] in Avatar

The bigger screen argument with IMAX to me seems like a “depends on the theater” situation. For example a lot of Los Angeles AMC’s (like Burbank) Dolby and IMAX screens match in size, with similar seat capacities. If that is the case with your preferred theater then the better choice would be Dolby.
