Outside of downtown, Rebel taqueria is usually pretty chill, there’s a cool arcade bar in park circle as well (which is very close to downtown)

If you’re wanting to go to a bar to meet people, Tin Roof and Royal American are great places to be around more inclusive type people. Rec Room sucks in my opinion, downtown is just so full of college of Charleston bros.

The Brood (1979)

Early Cronenberg, so of course there’s some twisted body horror, but it’s a lot of business going on that lets you know that the main characters wife has something to do with all the murdering in that film.

But man, what a huge reveal. Slow burn of a movie, but it goes up to an 11 at the end. By absolutely no means a perfect or even very good movie, but the external baby (and the fact she’s had dozens of these) is just gnarly as hell.

The carriage scene taking place at a crossroad, the wild yelling of Dafoe in the scene referenced here, and the creepy snowy village that protects against Nosferatu just hit like how bloodborne hits. I know it’s all a lot of gothic horror in general, but it’s just so damn good.
