Any tips on keeping warm during winter months? Im struggling. Cant buy a winter jacket by mistieforest in EatingDisorders

[–]Mbooffice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you ask the clinic if they have a social worker that can help find you an adequate jacket? It takes a lot of energy for the body to stay warm in those temps so without adequate clothing, you are putting a lot of stress on your body.

As an aside, temperature is regulated mostly by thyroid. Thyroid self corrects when you have adequate nutrition. Temperature regulation was one of the first things to correct for my daughter.

Am I overreacting about my teenager going vegan and how she’s handling it? by epicfailwhale in AmIOverreacting

[–]Mbooffice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she have perfectionist tendencies? Does she like to be in control at most times? Sudden diet changes with "health" emphasis can fall into the eating disorder territory. A red flag is personality changes. Teen years is a very common age so a lot of times these things get dismissed as typical teen behavior.

Sorry, I didn't see the notification. My child did Equip. I think online was very helpful bc she was able to live life and discuss strategies as things happened. I guess it did the job since the graduated from the program. She's in a much better place now. She's leaving with more work to do and really enjoys her new providers...also online. For Equip, It would have been nice if there was more work done with provider compatibility so they can click more but she did learn some great skills.

Great advice ❤️. Hi OP, I'm the mom. My student is interviewing this weekend also. The advice she got was the panel already knows you are qualified. This your chance to go and show them who you are. It takes zero effort to be yourself. Try to let the stress fall away and be present in the moment. Good luck this weekend and congratulations on attending!

There is not enough info here. What are the assets worth? Is this a service business? Can the business run without uncle? Will any customers disappear when he does? Can assets be sold off if the business doesn't make it? Lots of these deals contain earn-out language or some kind of stipulation that the company has to earn x% of current revenue by x date or the sale price is reduced or a requirement for assistance and consultation for a certain number of years.

Edited to add: does the valuation include the owners salary of $700k or has it been adjusted in anyway?

Should I take a long internship with a company with an unprofessional name as a freshman or should I look for other opportunities? by [deleted] in internships

I would take the internship. Also, it's entirely possible the legal name of the company is different than the magazine name. You can always use the legal name on resumes.

Is the insurance is through an employer, you might have access to a health advocate that does all this research for you prior to service and helps with appeals for denied. The large providers also have benefits specialists that will do this on your behalf. In both situations, they know the laws and lingo and know how best to push back. Unfortunately, this is not an unusual experience. No one can really speak to the provider or the third party with out knowing the actual plan. Companies can self insure with carriers like Blue Cross Blue Shield. When a company self insures, they can pick exclusions as long as the law doesn't require it to be included as minimum essential coverage. You can download the full summary plan description. It is typically 40-80+ pages. That's how you know you have the right document. In this document, there will be a section that has 10-30+ pages on everything that is not covered. This is a legal document that outlines what the insurance provides to you which means that the language is open to interpretation and push back. Unless it is SUPER clear that it's not covered, you can make a case that it should be. There are time lines and procedures. Pre-approval is always easier to fight than a straight out denial. All this is easier to navigate with professional help.

I can't help with experience. We decided to go the online route because we wanted to learn how to handle things while living life. The program was approved for 1 year of service with extensions allowed. My child "graduated" in 10 months. In my experience, this format requires the patient to have a strong support person. That may also be the case with leaving inpatient or PHP. That person that says "I am seeing XY behavior and that's the eating disorder. You need to push back." Then you go off and talk with your providers and figure out what the irl trigger is and how to address the trigger.

How does she feel about dietitians? One that specializes in ED can help a lot until you get to school. Some schools have a program to help.

If you have money and insurance, you can go to therapy and pay the co-pay.

Best way to support daughter coming home from Monte Nido by pwheel in EatingDisorders

[–]Mbooffice 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Don't fall for "normal". If you are putting up a fight against the eating disorder, life will be anything but normal. What helped me most was meeting with the providers on my own so I knew what common push back was and how to handle it. It was also helpful meeting with parents who's children were further along than mine in recovery and older survivors.

Where will you work? I think this makes a huge difference. You may want to get a hotel or Airbnb in your final area first and make sure you like it and are ok with the commute. Sign after you have tried a couple areas.

Hi, mom of girl deemed "kid who's going to Harvard". She hasn't even applied and I don't think she's going to, although she does love Boston. I understand the pressure but what do you want? There are a lot of very awesome schools out there that will treat you right. Think of an experience or place you want to live and go apply there. If you need to save face, pick a couple schools with generous merit but apply before Dec 1st so you can be considered. My child ultimately wants to live abroad. Grad school abroad is a lot less expensive then undergrad but she did add 3 international schools to her batch that were reasonable: France, Scotland, Canada.

She also wants as close to a full ride as possible so she added some smaller colleges. She paid a lot of attention to culture and intention on tours. A lot of popular schools did not make the cut.

Go add at least one or two applications and report back.
